The Catholic Association is taking to task a pro-Obama group for an "incredibly intolerant" polling effort in Ohio, suggesting Catholics should not support Mitt Romney because he's a Mormon.
A group calling itself "Catholics for Obama" is conducting push-polling in The Buckeye State, attempting to make Romney's Mormonism an issue. Obama supporters making phone calls on behalf of the group have several Catholic organizations outraged about the nature of the calls. In a scripted phone message, Catholics are being asked: "How can you support a Mormon who does not believe in Jesus Christ?"
Maureen Ferguson is senior policy advisor for The Catholic Association.
"We're deeply concerned about it, but frankly not that surprised given this president's abysmal record on religious liberty," says Ferguson. "He has chosen to pick a fight with people of faith over and over again in his administration. So it's very disappointing and a disturbing report."
Ferguson's group described Congressman Paul Ryan, the GOP vice-presidential candidate, as a "smart, serious Catholic [who] has been steadfast on issues of fundamental principle - defending religious liberty, life, and traditional marriage." Contrary to what Catholics for Obama contend, Ferguson says many Catholics support the Romney/Ryan ticket.
"This [polling by Catholics for Obama] is incredibly intolerant, not to mention the fact that the Constitution prohibits any religious test for office," says the senior policy advisor. "And also just shocking in that it comes from a president who has done nothing but try to divide people based on religious grounds."
An Obama campaign spokesperson issued the following statement to U.S. News, which broke the story: "As a campaign, we have made it unequivocally clear that a candidate's religion is out of bounds. The activity that is being attributed to the Obama campaign and our Catholics for Obama program is categorically false."

Everyone knows Mormonism is lunacy. They actually think Jesus popped down in north America and gave his message to the Indians.
_Everyone_ knows it just didn’t happen that way. It was the Virgin Mary who popped down about 400 years ago, and met Juan Diego in Mexico city, and told him that all -Mexican- Indians should be Catholic.
Lets just get the Moslem out of the way for this month. At least Romney doesn’t hate America.
What I'm reminded of is justification of violence in the name of God. Specifically, in violation of the Spiritual sense of the fifth commandment:
In the spiritual meaning, murders stand for all methods of killing and destroying people's souls. There are many different methods, such as turning people away from God, religion, and divine worship; setting up roadblocks against such things; and persuading people to turn away from and even feel aversion to such things. All the devils and satans in hell practice these methods. People in our world who violate and prostitute the holy things of the church are connected to these devils and satans. The king of the abyss, who is called Abaddon or Apollyon (meaning the Destroyer, Revelation 9:11), stands for people who use falsities to destroy souls. The "killed" in the prophetic Word have the same meaning, as for example in the following passages:
Jehovah God said, "Feed the sheep for slaughter whom their owners have killed." (Zechariah 11:4, 5, 7)
We have been killed all day long; we are considered a flock for slaughter. (Psalms 44:22)
He will cause those who are yet to come to take root in Jacob. Was he killed in the way that his henchmen would kill? (Isaiah 27:6, 7)
A stranger comes only in order to steal and slaughter the sheep. I have come so that they may have life and abundance. (John 10:10; other such passages are Isaiah 14:21; 26:21; Ezekiel 37:9; Jeremiah 4:31; 12:3; Revelation 9:5; 11:7)
This is why the Devil is called "a murderer from the beginning" (John 8:44).

No better than radical Islam, if you ask me...
I don’t have any idea what your post is about, can you try explaining your problem with post 4, and do it in plain language?
Why don’t you spend more time at a Rand Paul site or an Obama site?
Well heh, a Mormon or a muzlim...What’s so hard about that???
Who says you have to vote for either one? As a Catholic, you must realize that Mitt Romney has been so involved with Mormonism his whole life that he either knows that Mormonism is a false religion and is deceiving others or he is so deceived himself that he doesn't see Mormonism's obvious errors. Neither is a good qualification for a POTUS. Don't fall for a false dilemma that you must vote for one or the other. I have a perfectly clear conscience not voting for either.
Geeze....not another one of these "purists".I'll sleep like a baby after having voted for *this* Mormon knowing that he has a sense of basic decency, basic decency being something that fills your pal,Osama Obama, with contempt.Forward your post to Rat Party Headquarters and they just might show their gratitude for your "principles" by offering you a romantic night alone with Moochelle, who also holds Romney's decency in contempt.
Go peddle your religious hatred elsewhere...this window's closed for business.
You can do as you wish. You can also drive past a automobile accident and not stop to assist.
Anyone who thinks Romney is not a hugely better choice than Obama is a fool. You take offense to that, or not take offense to that; but it is the truth.
No time for being nice here. Time is short and the situation is extremely dangerous.
If I am bleeding to death; I am not going to give the ER folks a questionnaire about their religion.

Nice example of decency. I can see why you're so qualified to lecture on it. (/sarcasm)

You claim to be a Catholic. You might want to check out your own church's position on Mormonism before you throw around the "religious hatred" charge.
Anyone who concludes that Romney is "hugely better" than Obama hasn't really looked at Romney's record very closely. No matter how you slice it, this election is the proverbial selecting the lesser of two evils. Just because one is a little better than the other, doesn't make him worth voting for.
This election has to pose a serious dilemma to a real conservative. Anyone who votes for Mitt Romney with enthusiasm has shown to me that he or she isn't a real conservative. I won't condemn anyone who decides to vote for Romney nor will I condemn someone who decides to sit out his Presidential election. Dilemmas make for hard choices.
Every election is. They are called politicians.
The only reasons that a conservative could vote for Romney are Paul Ryan and Obama.
If the Republicans flipped the ticket, I'd vote for it in a second. However, Paul Ryan is nothing but window dressing and will have no influence in a Romney Administration.
I not convinced by the "he's better than Obama" argument. Everyone is. There's not enough improvement over Obama in Romney to convince me to vote for him and assure that we won't have a conservative heading the Republican ticket until 2020, assuming Mitt hasn't accomplished his father's dream of destroying all vestiges of the Goldwater and Reagan Revolutions.
On election day, I'm going to vote for all the conservatives I can find on the ticket which means that Mitt Romney will not get my vote (nor will Obama, of course).
One’s a capitalist; one’s a Marxist.
That's a pretty stark difference right there.
We could go on and put together a pretty lengthy list for you.
