but the letter mentions the prez and the “federal senate”. Neither is an issue next TUES in ILL. It’s not clear these letters are persuasive. The people that agree with the Bishop’s thoughts are already voting pro-life. The people who hear it who do not agree ... how are they persuaded? I’m not convinced.
And the non-catholics who hear of this thru the media ... when the secularist politicians pick a fight with the Catholic bishops, the public sides with the politicians. The mob of Unitarians, Congregationalists, and liberal Episcopalians, etc ... they don’t particularly care for the Bishops. That crowd is anti-episcopal. It’s part of their religion. And then there is the unchurched crowd.
