Why Aren’t Christians Allowed to be Offended?
Set Our Children Free ^ | 12/12/12 | Tony Caruso

Why aren’t Christians allowed to be offended? We’re reminded of this issue every year at this time as we observe the War on Christmas. And this sensitivity to offense doesn’t stop with Christmas.

Why is it that we’re required to be silent while the gay agenda, feminism, multiculturalism, radical environmentalism, and globalism are deified and taught to our children, while the Christian worldview is vilified by the same government officials?

Christians are NOT forbidden to be offended. They agree to accept these offenses, but no one — including the Almighty — “requires” it.

There’s absolutely nothing to stop them from rising in outrage at the blatant discrimination and hatred directed at them. All they have to do is refuse to remain silent any longer.

But Christians are offended and there are plenty of people protesting against the offenses. What kind of permission is required?

Why aren’t Christians allowed to be offended?

Some of the basics set Christians up to becoming punching bags.

Muhammed started a religion 700 years after Christianity, and knew these naive weaknesses could be exploited, Islam takes advantage of them.

To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either.

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

The reason we can not change it is because the 78 percent who claim Christianity as their faith may regard it as nothing more than a social club or an ideal [...]Could the actual percent of Christians be 10 percent instead of 78?

You hit the nail on the head! I would also add a failure to lead by pastors, priests, rabbis... Every election year I try to get my pastor to say more than "vote the Book". The ignorance of some people is amazing. I have been asked by other church members "isn't Al Gore pro-life?" or "do you really think that Democrats support gay marriage?" If I was a pastor, I would make 100% sure that my flock knew what was at stake in an election. And I don't mean fiscal cliff, entitlements... I would show them what "vote the Book" means in practical terms. Alas, I am a woman, so I am restricted to running my mouth in my Sunday School class.

When asked What Would Jesus Do remember,
freaking out and turning over tables is an option.

Excellent point. Putting a negative label on a belief has the effect of demonizing the belief system. When Christians were labeled “homophobic” the media took the term and ran with it. I think we need to start using the term “Christophobia”

It is time for Christianity that names its foes, calls them Evil, crushes them utterly in the name of God, and then goes to church to sing a Te Deum.
A Christianity that has no hesitation to use the word “Crusade” and Christian who are proud to be called “Crusaders.”

The reason is that Christians are unwilling to put up sufficient money to defend against these lawsuits. If we all put in a dollar a week per family member toward the defense of Christianity we would have more money available to defend than the organization causing the lawsuit. A Texas man withdrew his suit against a Christmas display this week because the state of Texas Attorney General said he would join the suit with the county being sued. If we are prepared to defend financially we will win each time. We also have to counter sue the atheistic organizations to get them to stop. Finally we have to get the laws changed so that the loser pays the legal fees of both parties to the lawsuit. When the ACLU and the Freedom from Religion organizations start to lose they will stop this foolishess.

I understand, i have no church as it seems in every church people have daughters who are unwed mothers or sons who are gay but i use tobacco and that is a no,no.

Alas, I am a woman, so I am restricted to running my mouth in my Sunday School class.

Not an alas, be proud of being a woman, we need more real women.

Yep, i know it is hard not tell them the truth, maybe it helps and maybe it don,t.

I have a sister who i told that Christianity could not live side by side with socialism, she no longer claims to be a Christian.

Why reach back to the Old Testament? The Crusaders were warriors, too.

I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel;
"As ye deal with My contemners, so with you My grace shall deal";
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel,
Since God is marching on.

Every time you open our jaws and offer the Gospel of Grace, you are probably going to offend most now days. However, the Lord tells us to offer it regardless. He does not give us license to go out and offend just to offend or to use foul language and such or accuse. Remember, He has laid down the rules for such. They remain sin in His eyes. You can still offer the truth without attempting to offend someone on purpose.

.....Even Jesus got angry and did “house cleaning” by cleaning out the Jewish temple in Jerusalem, not once, but twice.
