well, leaving aside the blame for the Reformation and its philosophical underpinings, the time of the Reformation was unfortunate from the pure stand-point of Islam v/s Christianity

a united Christendom would have been able to capitalize and push the turks out by the 1600s

Also, if you do get a chance to read about Crimea, do so -- all us Westerners whether Catholic or not have a lot to be ashamed of with this war -- we fought against Christian Russia on behalf of the Moslem Turks..

I have read somewhere that the Crimea war was about an attack or it had its start with the attack of the Church of the Birth of Christ or Nativity.
