Compulsory Abortion for Down’s Syndrome Foetuses, Says UKIP Kent Candidate

Mothers with foetuses detected to have Down’s syndrome and other disabilities should be forced into a compulsory abortion, according to a UKIP candidate’s ‘personal manifesto’.

Geoffrey Clark, who is running in a by-election on Thursday (20) for the Gravesham Rural seat on Kent County Council and the Meopham North seat on Gravesham Borough Council, was labelled ‘abhorrent’ by disability charities and parents.

His ideas, published on his website, state: “Consider compulsory abortion when the foetus is detected as having Downs, Spina Bifida or similar syndrome which, if it is born, will render the child a burden on the state as well as on the family.”

He also wants free euthanasia for the over-80s.

Andrew Diedo, from Dartford, whose 27-year-old son Chris has Down’s syndrome, said Mr Clark’s view was “perhaps born out of fear and ignorance”.

He said: “Our son with Down’s syndrome enjoys a full, happy and productive life. Anyone who knows him will agree with me that the world is a far richer place because of him.”

Disability charity Mencap’s chief executive, Mark Goldring, said he was “disgusted and shocked” at the manifesto.

“It is abhorrent that Geoffrey Clarke sees disabled people solely as a burden. We question if he is fit for public office,” he said.

Sure, it was great when I was 16.
But I would have been to Carousel 17 years ago, now.

I don’t even want to think about it.

Damned NAZIS.

Precisely.

The UKIP is a descendant of the BNP, which is in turn a reboot of the BUF - the "British Union of Fascists", who supported an alliance with the Reich in WWII.

“free euthanasia”
How considerate of them to not ask anyone to pay for it!

That’s hideous. My mom and my late aunt both suffered spina bifida. My mom’s was so minor it was revealed following X-rays after a car wreck.

This was after she went back to college as an adult and earned a BA in English, is a well-known local artist, wife of 50-plus years, mom and grandma. Why should somewhat like her be aborted?

As for my aunt, she was a nurse, trained during WWII but not deployed; and had a long successful career in nursing. She also helped my uncle on the farm and was a mom and grandmother. Her spina bifida caused some her some problems but she, too, was much loved by her family and contributed a great deal to the community.

The danger of such tests, I’m afraid, would be forced abortion of normal babies due to false positives, and aborting babies who will go on to lead long full lives (all of them, in other words.)

I am glad I am not a Brit of child-bearing years. They’d have to kill me too before I would abort one of my babies.

Downs Syndrome babies can become active and productive adults. Jus because they are not top in the IQ ranks does not render them useless. Many perform useful low-level jobs which others will not do, and they are usually happy to do so as they feel they are contributing to their own livlihood.

I hate it when some people feel thay can decide who is worthy of a life and who is not. Playing God is a zero-sum game.

Yep. Happening all over EU already, and all converging with the dem agenda.

Belgium has new stuff, so does France, Netherlands has been doing this forever sending their abortion/euthanasia boats around. And Scandinavia is simply unspeakable.

If they get this law, in a few years you’ll have special police hunting down families that escaped abortion for their babies. This could be the theme for a movie, except the feminazis would never let it be produced.

If somebody else pays for your beans, they get to decide what kinda beans you get.

Same for your babies.

The moral value of beans becomes rather moot. It is now a cost issue, with the decision held by a party with no moral or personal interest in your desire for beans.

This is Progressive Progress.

And they beat their breasts and ask themselves why criminals with guns don’t respect life.

Do we know this to be true? I was at a meeting on 9/11 with Pam Geller and two members of UKIP and they spoke very eloquently about Muslim terrorism. They implored us to vote for Romney. What’s going on here?

Isn’t this a so-called “right wing party?”

This is materialism carried to its logical conclusion.

If the left doesn’t watch it, this is the path they will follow in America.

It’s his “personal manifesto” according to the article. IOW, not official party policy.

My daughter has spina bifida and is in the gifted program! She isn’t paralyzed, but limited in how much physical activity she can do because she is at a higher risk of back breaks. However this jackass might be the life she saves when she graduates med school.

UGH, this MUST be how the Germans felt pre-Hitler’s demise. Nothing being done about insanity.

He is running as an Independent not as UKIP. He has been thrown out of UKIP. Please, you are doing a great disservice to that party. Do you really think Pam Geller would support such a view??
