God's Power Is Available To His People
12-24-12 | Frank Broom

God has made his power available to his people. But, we have to learn how to tap into it. Because, just because the power is there does not mean it's going to do anything. Just like the power or electricity in your home just because it's there doesn't mean it's going to do anything. You can come in one night with the lights off and sit down in the dark and all the power you need is right there and it's up to you to access it. No one would call the power company just because the lights were off because they understand that the power is there it just has to be accessed or tapped into. And that's what I want to talk about, accessing God's power. There are at least 3 ways of accessing God's power- by faith, by authority, and by seed. By faith, there is a account of a woman in the Bible that had an issue of blood for 12 years. And one day she heard about Jesus and she said, "If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole." And one day here came Jesus(the power source) walking by and she came in the press behind and touched his clothes and power flowed out of him and into her. And Jesus said, "Daughter your faith has made you whole", she knew how to tap into that power that was on Jesus. And Jesus said it was her faith that did it.

Also by authority, Jesus said in John 14:12-14, that whatever you asked in his name he would do it. That word asked is translated as authority. So Jesus gave you his authority to use and by that authority things would be done in the earth through you by using his authority so that even though he went back to the father he could work through you. Jesus said in John 14:10, that he spoke the words and the father in him or the Holy Spirit did the works. Now let's take a look at that in Acts 3, Peter and John was going into the temple and there was a crippled man that laid at the temple gates and when Peter saw him he said to the man, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name(or authority) of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk." And he took the man by the hand and lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankles bones received strength. And the man leaped up and started walking and praising God. But, notice what and who Peter said did it, and his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong(verse 16). And again in Acts 4:10 Peter said, "Be it known unto, and to all the people of Isreal, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole." Notice Peter used that name(authority) and Jesus did the work through him and he can do the work through you.

And third by seed, the word of God is seed (Luke 8:11). And according to Hebrews 4:12, it is quick(alive) and powerful. But Romans 1:16 takes it even higher and says it is the power of God. God gave you his word as a seed with his power in it, now what are you going to do with it. A seed with all it's ability only produces when it is sown. So how do you sow the word, with your mouth. Romans 10:8 says, "But what saith it? the word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is the word of faith, which we preach." Notice it is also the word of faith because it takes faith to access the power. So you take the word and speak it into your heart and you continue to speak it until that seed takes root and grows up in you. Because speaking the word is also watering the seed (1Corinthians 3:6). And just like a seed has to be planted it also has to be watered. And God word is the water that causes it to grow (Isaiah 55:10,11). And when it grows up in you it will come out of your mouth and work for you. That's why Jesus said, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. And a good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things." Notice the seeds you sow and water are going to produce something. And also if you notice all 3 ways takes words of faith to operate. I hope this article has been a help to you, God Bless.

What power, exactly, am I missing by not being one of his people? The power of self-delusion? I could be wrong, but what do you expect from an agnostic? God exists or God doesn’t exist. Proponents of either position are unable to PROVE their points, hence my skepticism...in spite of years of Catholic training.

Quick, before trying to BS a long response, what power were you referring to? "God's Power Is Available To His People"

I don’t remember any of that happening in my lifetime but I do remember the moment that I decided that there was no Santa Claus and I was not yet in Kindergarten...My second oldest nephew believed in Santa until he was almost nine. I don’t know of any kid that doesn’t like to have presents show up out of seemingly nowhere with their name on them...What’snot to like about Christmas?

When my grandfather passed around Christmas many years ago I asked The Lord to hold off though I knew it was his time and he was not in pain not for me but for my mother as I felt she would need me when the time came. I finished my exams and immediately hit the road. I arrived home after a ten (normally twelve) hour drive. 15 minutes later the call from the hospital came. I knew as soon as the phone rang my pray had been answered but that it was time. I know the power of prayer and faith.

I also know as a physics major the wonder of creation and that there are too many statistical issues for it to be just happenstance - the 3rd law of thermodynamics alone is enough proof of creation by design for me.

Merry Christmas all and to all a blessed good night.

Thanks for posting these inspirational, well articulated thoughts. I especially like you analogy to sitting in the house with the lights out when the power is readily available. Merry Christmas!

That word “authority” is undeserved kindness. It’s will and it’s faith. And it is free to all. No matter where we are on the outside, but where we are on the inside.

This post is prosperity gospel garbage. When Jesus spoke about receiving “whatever you ask”, He followed with a statement about keeping His commandments.

Check out 1 John 3:22-23.

The title of the article drew me to it and conveys a message that I need to be reminded off every day as I struggle with a progressive illness for which there is no evident cure.

The article exemplifies exactly the kind of “seed” that is discussed in the article itself...and in scripture, as the article explains, IMO.

So thanks again for posting it!

Merry Christmas!

God’s “power”? To do what? get rich? Be successful?

No, that is magic, and the devil who offers you the power to show off by floating down from the pinnacle of the temple. It is the devil who offers you the power to rule the world.

Grow up. Stuff like this makes a lot of us reject “god”, i.e. the false god of a lot of so called “christians”.

I am moral for morality’s sake, not out of fear. I can’t deny that my Catholic upbringing may have had something to do with my morality but that doesn’t change the fact that I am unsure as to whose, if anyone’s, view of an unprovable supreme being (or lack thereof) is correct. I’ll remain curious until my dying day...unless, of course, I discover the truth beforehand. I’ll keep searching in the meantime as mine is a personal search for truth irrespective of the opinions, no matter how well-meaning, of others.

I wish people would concern themselves with my opinion as much as I concern myself with theirs...and definitely no more.

LadyDoc who is talking about showing off, are you saying the woman with the issue of blood got healed by magic. Are you saying that lame man got healed by Peter doing magic. Didn’t Jesus tell his disciples to heal the sick, cast out devils, raise the dead, how were they going to do that by magic. Didn’t Jesus say believers would lay hands on the sick and thay would recover, is that magic. And by the way the Bible does say, “It is he that gives you the POWER to get wealth” Due. 8:18. Don’t throw out the baby with the bath water. Just because someone misuses something doesn’t mean it should be done away with. God Bless

Seizethecarp I can speak from personal experience with the word. I had something going on with my body, but I decided to put my trust in the word Proverbs 4:20-22 is excellent for dealing with sickness. It did take some time, but the end result was that word was medicine to my flesh. God Bless! If you have any questions feel free to ask, I hope I can be of some assistance.

Thanks for the pointer!

As it happens, my own father is a clergyman, so I was raised as a PK, though I have gone off in a different direction spiritually. It is good to be reminded of things that we “already know.”
