Pray for our American Heroes

I remember my affliction and my wandering,
the bitterness and the gall.
I well remember them,
and my soul is downcast within me.
Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
(Lamentations 3:19-24)

Father in heaven, we thank You for this day; because You have made it, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Father, we pray for those among our troops who have gone to war and come back home broken, or angry, or bitter. We pray that You would heal them and teach them, until they are at rest in Your goodness.

Lord, we thank You for Hobby Lobby and the stand they have taken for You. We ask You to encourage and help them in this fight, and as they honor You, please honor them.

LORD, we remember Your prophet Jeremiah and the hard road You called him to walk – the affliction and the wandering, the bitterness and the gall. Yet he called to mind Your love, and so he had hope, for You did not forsake Your people and Your purpose. And we also, O God, have hope. Because of Your great love, we are not consumed, for Your compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. LORD, You are our portion, and we will wait for You – until You set wrongs to right, until You destroy the shroud that covers all nations, until You wipe the tears from our faces. Keep us until that day, in the Name of Jesus in whom we have hoped, Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Lamentations 3:18 And I said, “My strength and my hope are perished from the Lord,” 19 remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 This I recall to my mind; therefore have I hope:
22 It is through the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” saith my soul, “Therefore will I hope in Him.”
25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeketh Him.
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

Dear LORD, only YOU can read into the mind and hearts of our soldiers. I am sure many struggle during times of fear and loneliness while serving. I pray for them. OH LORD, Great is YOUR MERCY and COMPASSIONS that bring HOPE and SALVATION. New each morning…so today, I pray this day, for HOPE and SALVATION among those who are serving both in the United States and Israel. Amen. Dear LORD, I pray especially for Alek who struggles with his faith…and for my Jake who is yet to serve…Amen.
