Vatican Article Likens Gay Marriage to Communism
Seattle Post-Intelligencer ^ | 1/14/13 | Joel Connolly

The Vatican has taken multiple blasts at same-sex marriage in the last month, just as it is on the way to becoming legal in Britain and France, and as a poll by an evangelical-backed organization finds opposition in the United States on the wane.

A front-page article in L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper, likens marriage equality to 20th-century communism, reports the Religion News Service, saying it is equal to “the egalitarian utopia that did so much damage during the 20th Century . . . deceiving humanity as socialism did in the past.”

The Vatican blast follows a Christmas season message of peace from Pope Benedict XVI, in which the pontiff spoke of protecting traditional marriage from “attempts to make it juridically equivalent to radically different types of unions.”

The pope spoke of “a crisis that threatens (the family in Western society) to its foundations,” condemning “a new philosophy of sexuality” which teaches that “sex is no longer a given element of nature” but a “social role to choose for ourselves.”

But marriage-equality bills are moving through the parliament in London, the assembly in Paris, and been upheld by the courts in Spain. And voters in Washington, Maryland and Maine approved same-sex marriage last November, while Minnesota voters rejected a bid — backed by the Catholic Church — to write a ban on marriage equality into the state constitution.

Both Communism & the present insane pretense that there can be such a thing as "same sex" marriage, reflect a humanist compulsion to pretend that a political collective can redefine the realities of nature, as a whim of the moment.

This is not just a Catholic issue. All of us should applaud the current Pope. In this he speaks for all of us, who believe that truth is a positive value; that only by accepting truth as a sacred premise governing any social interaction, can man achieve his potential.

Unfortunately, most people today think Communism was a good thing. Why do you think anti-Communism and anti-Communists like McCarthy are consistently portrayed as evil and Communists like the Hollywood Ten portrayed as heroes?

Contemporary liberalism (and unfortunately most people who have been brainwashed by it) sincerely believe that anti-Communism is motivated only by racism, "sexism," etc., and that therefore Communists are simply angels who want "social justice."

You might want to reconsider your PERSONAL ATTACK.

My criticism is directed toward a man-made organization
started by a Pagan Roman Pontiff: Emperor Constantine.

It is a corporation dedicated to promulgating man-made
Tradition and impugning the WORD of YHvH.

The Roman "church" displays it's lack of understanding

Actually, it was infiltrated by communists many years ago. The communists, like Satan, hate the Catholic Church and will do anything to try to destroy it. Fortunately, Jesus assures us this will never happen.

As a non Catholic, I agree with you. We should be applauding the church’s stance on this issue and understand that an attack on one who opposes gay marriage is an attack on us all who believe in the sanctity and dignity of traditional marriage (one man, one woman united with God’s blessing.)

I for one believe the gay agenda and its supporters aren’t content with corrupting the word marriage, they’re out to destroy Christianity. The proof in my accusation is in their refusal to accept gay unions, insisting on using the word marriage. If a civil union and a traditional marriage were afforded the same legal rights, they’d still insist on calling their relationships as “marriage.” That’s proof they’re out attacking traditional Biblical marriage.

The Catholic Church was already created (before Constantine). He developed an edict which protected from religious persecution not only Christians but all religions, allowing anyone to worship whichever deity they chose.

It has been pointed out to Uri many times that there were 33 Popes BEFORE Constantine converted and was baptized in 337AD, well after he called the Council of Nicea in 325 AD.

Anyone with a modicum of historical knowledge would know that Constantine legalized full freedom of religion for all faiths within the Roman Empire with the Edict of Milan in 313 AD.

Peace be with

Constantine was a Roman emperor who started a movement that would allow Christians to worship their faith without oppression and persecution. He developed an edict which protected from religious persecution not only Christians but all religions, allowing anyone to worship whichever deity they chose.

I have researched that claim and have
found no evidence to support the hypothesis.

What I have found id Pontiff Constantine rejecting
Yah'shua and all jews and the WORD of YHvH : the Tanach.

He rejected the YHvH commanded Feast Day which Yah'shua observed.

Passover and all the other of YHvH's Holy commanded Feast Days were rejected
and replaced with Pagan feast days; the feast days of the Evil One.

Whatever some people think was the purpose of the Council of Nicea,
the following is what the Roman Pontiff who called and supervised
the council thought was the most important for the world to know.
The following Edict was promulgated to the whole Roman Empire
for their understanding and compliance:

ON THE KEEPING OF EASTER.(The Pagan feast of easter)

From the Letter of the Emperor to all those not present at the Council.
(Found in Eusebius, Vita Const., Lib. iii., 18-20.)

When the question relative to the sacred festival of Easter arose, it was
universally thought that it would be convenient that all should keep the
feast on one day; for what could be more beautiful and more desirable,
than to see this festival, through which we receive the hope of
immortality, celebrated by all with one accord, and in the same
manner? It was declared to be particularly unworthy for this, the
holiest of all festivals, to follow the custom [the calculation] of the
Jews, who had soiled their hands with the most fearful of crimes, and
whose minds were blinded. In rejecting their custom,(1) we may
transmit to our descendants the legitimate mode of celebrating Easter,
which we have observed from the time of the Saviour's Passion to the
present day[according to the day of the week].
We ought not,
therefore, to have anything in common with the Jews, for the Saviour
has shown us another way; our worship follows a more legitimate and
more convenient course(the order of the days of the week); and
consequently, in unanimously adopting this mode, we desire, dearest
brethren, to separate ourselves from the detestable company of the
Jews, for it is truly shameful for us to hear them boast that without
their direction we could not keep this feast. How can they be in the
right, they who, after the death of the Saviour, have no longer been led
by reason but by wild violence, as their delusion may urge them? They
do not possess the truth in this Easter question; for, in their blindness
and repugnance to all improvements, they frequently celebrate two
passovers in the same year. We could not imitate those who are openly
in error. How, then, could we follow these Jews, who are most
certainly blinded by error? for to celebrate the passover twice in one
year is totally inadmissible. But even if this were not so, it would still
be your duty not to tarnish your soul by communications with such
wicked people[the Jews]. Besides, consider well, that in such an
important matter, and on a subject of such great solemnity, there ought
not to be any division. Our Saviour has left us only one festal day of
our redemption, that is to say, of his holy passion, and he desired[to
establish] only one Catholic Church. Think, then, how unseemly it is,
that on the same day some should be fasting whilst others are seated
at a banquet; and that after Easter, some should be rejoicing at feasts,
whilst others are still observing a strict fast. For this reason, a Divine
Providence wills that this custom should be rectified and regulated in a
uniform way; and everyone, I hope, will agree upon this point. As, on
the one hand, it is our duty not to have anything in common with the
murderers of our Lord; and as, on the other, the custom now followed
by the Churches of the West, of the South, and of
the North, and by some of those of the East, is the most acceptable, it
has appeared good to all; and I have been guarantee for your consent,
that you would accept it with joy, as it is followed at Rome, in Africa,
in all Italy, Egypt, Spain, Gaul, Britain, Libya, in all Achaia, and in the
dioceses of Asia, of Pontus, and Cilicia. You should consider not only
that the number of churches in these provinces make a majority, but
also that it is right to demand what our reason approves, and that we
should have nothing in common with the Jews. To sum up in few
words: By the unanimous judgment of all, it has been decided that the
most holy festival of Easter should be everywhere celebrated on one
and the same day, and it is not seemly that in so holy a thing there
should be any division. As this is the state of the case, accept joyfully
the divine favour, and this truly divine command;
for all which takes
place in assemblies of the bishops ought to be regarded as proceeding
from the will of God. Make known to your brethren what has been
decreed, keep this most holy day according to the prescribed mode; we
can thus celebrate this holy Easter day at the same time, if it is granted
me, as I desire, to unite myself with you; we can rejoice together,
seeing that the divine power has made use of our instrumentality for
destroying the evil designs of the devil
, and thus causing faith, peace,
and unity to flourish amongst us. May God graciously protect you, my
beloved brethren.

from DOCUMENTS FROM THE FIRST COUNCIL OF NICEA [THE FIRST ECUMENICAL COUNCIL] A.D. 325

This is the Decree from the Pontiff of the Roman church to all the world.

Emperor Constantine, Emperor of the Roman Empire

He had issued an Edict making Sunday the day of rest

In 321 CE, while a Pagan sun-worshiper, the Emperor Constantine
declared that Sunday was to be a day of rest throughout the Roman Empire:

"On the venerable day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest,
and let all workshops be closed. In the country however persons engaged in agriculture
may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits because it often happens that another day
is not suitable for gain-sowing or vine planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment
for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost."
Council of Laodicea circa 364 CE ordered that religious observances were
to be conducted on Sunday, not Saturday. Sunday became the new Sabbath.

They ruled: "Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday, but shall work on that day."

All through the Holy Word there's only ONE YHvH (over 7000 times)

In the Tanach YHvH is described as our Father.

When YHvH took on our physical form He is called our Brother.

Matthew 12:50 "For whoever does the will of My Father
who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother."
When ever He came to us as the breath of G-d He is called the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11 Do not cast me away from Your presence
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Isaiah 63:10 But they rebelled And grieved His Holy Spirit;
Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy,
He fought against them.
11 Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses.
Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds
of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit in the midst of them,

Yah'shua tells us that the Father and He are ONE
John 10:30 "I and the Father are one."
John 14:7 "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also;
from now on you know Him, and have seen Him."
John 14:9 Jesus said to him, ...., Philip?
He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, 'Show us the Father '?

We call them Bernardin’s Boys. But they are all retiring and Pope Benedict is replacing them with straight, orthodox-believing Bishops.

Have heart — things are getting better.

In addition, many people don’t realize that the seminaries were cleaned out with a team from the Vatican.

Applicants for the priesthood must now go through a multiple day pschye exam and many, many interviews, plus loads of positive referrals.

>> Then it will be easy to prove from something other that a stiff-necked anti-Catholic website. Knock yourself out.<<

Maybe we could start with a Catholic site?

“On October 28, 312, Emperor Constantine met Emperor Maxentius in battle just outside the city of Rome at the Milvian Bridge, spanning the Tiber. This battle—occurring exactly 1,700 years ago—is one of the most important events in the history of Christendom, since it was through Constantine’s victory that Christendom began. It is a battle well worth reflecting upon. (http://www.catholicworldreport.com/Item/1697/constantines_gift_to_christianity.aspx)

Then we have this from Catholic Online.

St. Constantine the Great.

Constantine was the most dominating figure of his lifetime, towering over his contemporaries, including Pope Sylvester I. He presided over the Council of Nicaea, gave extensive grants of land and property to the Church, founded the Christian city of Constantinople to serve as his new capital, and undertook a long-sighted program of Christianization for the whole of the Roman Empire. (http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=2731)

Then we only have to look at the pagan practices of the Roman Empire prior to Constantine to understand the struggle to “Christianize” the pagan practices to appease the people.

Isis became Mary. Mithraism with it’s flesh and blood of the bull. The henotheists with their many gods became many Saints who are in charge of areas of life such as war, peace etc. Then there are the patron saints just like the pagans had over cities or areas. Of course that Papacy was a natural since Constantine wanted all power in Rome.

Anyone with eyes wide open can see what happened.

Do not accuse another Freeper of telling a lie, it attributes motive, i.e. the intent to decieve. It is "making it personal."

Words such as "false" "wrong" "error" do not attribute motives.

chartered a rabid, syncretic anti-semitic corporation.

Remember Yah'shua permitted the Roman Empire

Matthew 15:1-9 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” 3 He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ 5 But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,” 6 he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God.

7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: 8 “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 9 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

Matthew 22:29 But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Mark 12:24 Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?

Mark 7:1-13 Now when the Pharisees gathered to him, with some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem, 2 they saw that some of his disciples ate with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. 3 (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands properly, holding to the tradition of the elders, 4 and when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other traditions that they observe, such as the washing of cups and pots and copper vessels and dining couches.)

5 And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?” 6 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 7 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ 8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”

9 And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ 11 But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”’ (that is, given to God)— 12 then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, 13 thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.”

2 Corinthians 4:2 But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.

Have you forgotten that there are over 20 Catholic Churches? I believe the number is 22.

The Latin Church -- which you call Roman -- is only one of them.

For your enlightenment -- many of these churches were founded in the Middle East.

THE RITES OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH -- There are many!

Do not accuse another Freeper of telling a lie, it attributes motive, i.e. the intent to decieve. It is "making it personal." Words such as "false" "wrong" "error" do not attribute motives. Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

I never caller the FReeper a liar.

You, RM, are reading my mind !!!!!!

You are making a statement implying that
I directed the statement to a person and
made it a personal attack.

The statement that Jesus created the
Roman Catholic Church
is on its face a lie
and you should know that.

Did it ever occur to these so called vicars of Christ that Jesus was Jewish?

Their contempt for the Jews is palpable.

I have no contempt for the Jews. Please do not try to put words in my mouth.

Astonishing!

The Pope condemns communism and the acceptance of homosexuality ....

And in response, folks on a supposedly conservative forum condemn the Pope and the Church!

It is a marvel to behold ...

Romans 8:9-11 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
