Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal….It is for us the living,.. to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Father God, we are gathered here today with a devotion to that cause so eloquently spoken by Abraham Lincoln. We highly resolve that those that have died in devotion to our freedom did not die in vain. We resolve that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom – and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

We acknowledge that we cannot do this without that God under whose providential hand we exist. Our petition today is for Your fulfillment of those prayers of consecration that were made by our forefathers. Your people, anointed by You to decree and to be heard and acted on by the angels say, “We are one Nation Under the only living God and His Son, Jesus Christ.” At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow and every tongue WILL confess that He is Lord.

Angels, we give you charge concerning the brave men and women who are serving in harm’s way to preserve our Nation’s freedom. We exalt them and honor them, believing that our mighty God will protect, encourage, heal and set them apart for His Kingdom’s work. We serve and honor a mighty, loving God.

Thank You for answering our fervent prayers for the success and protection of our military and for the new birth of freedom under Your mighty Hand. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Red Tape

The expression “red tape” describes the annoying way that bureaucracy prevents things from getting done. Originally, the phrase referred to the common practice of binding official documents with red ribbon. In the early 1800s, the term was popularized by the writings of Scottish historian Thomas Carlyle, who was protesting governmental foot-dragging. Following the American Civil War, the problem of “red tape” resurfaced as war veterans struggled to receive their benefits. The term denotes frustration and disappointment because of the burdensome hurdles it erects to accomplishing goals.

Bureaucratic red tape is almost legendary, but there is one place in the universe where it’s never an issue—the throne of God. In Romans 5:2, Paul speaks of Christ, “through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand.” When our hearts are broken or our lives are troubled, there is no red tape hindering our access to God. Jesus Christ has paved the way so that we can have access to enter boldly into the presence of the King of heaven (Heb. 4:16).

Remember, when your heart is hurting, you don’t have to cut through a lot of red tape to present your needs to God. Through Christ, we have full and immediate access.

Thank You, Father, that access to Your throne
has been secured for us by Jesus Christ. We
know that You will not ignore us. Thank You for
the confidence we can have that You care.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Thank you for this reminder of who we were as a nation...and who we can be again...OH LORD, hear our prayer...we lay our hope on this: Mark 10:26-27 They were utterly amazed and said to him, “Then who can be saved?” 27 Jesus looked at them and said, “Humanly, it is impossible, but not with God; with God, everything is possible.” OH LORD, who can save this country that has begun to spiral out of YOUR HAND..ONLY YOU. Who can save our families from destruction...ONLY YOU. Who can protect our Soldiers and put upon their hearts YOUR GLORY and the GOOD of this COUNTRY...ONLY YOU. OH LORD..SAVE America from itself till we are once again THE UNITED STATES under GOD ALMIGHTY..AMEN.
