The Oregon state attorney general's office is investigating a Christian baker who declined to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
Aaron Klein, owner of the Gresham, Ore. bakery Sweet Cakes by Melissa, told The Oregonian newspaper he chose not to make the cake because he believes marriage is a religious institution between a man and woman as stated in the Bible.
When someone tells me that their definition is something different, I strongly disagree. I dont think I should be penalized for that.
His business, which he co-owns with his wife, could face as much as $50,000 in fines if found guilty of violating the Oregon Equality Act. The law forbids businesses from denying full and equal accommodations for customers on the basis of sexual orientation and other protected categories.
Same-sex marriage is not recognized in the state, though domestic partnerships are.
The woman who filed the complaint against the bakery said Klein said she and her partner were abominations to the Lord and that their money was not equal to others. Klein denied making those statements.
I apologized for wasting their time and said we dont do same-sex marriages, he told the ABC television affiliate KATU. I honestly did not mean to hurt anybody, didnt mean to make anybody upset, he said.
The couple had previously bought a wedding cake at the store several years before for one of the womens mothers and her husband.

It wuld have been so easy for these Dykes to just order a wedding cake and go somewehere else and get their Two Dykes little statues and put on it.
Fruits don’t want to do that. They want to rub your face in it.
This guy has a good defense in that he refused to sell a cake for a homosexual event rather than refusing to sell to a homo. His point is that he will sell to anyone, homos included, but will not promote an event which opposes his Christian beliefs. Thus, he is not discriminating against any individual based on their sexuality.
It's the continuous attempt at normalization of homosexuality. It's the minority's attempt to continuously drum the idea of same sex copulation as normal.
My proposal has been to push for the normalization of open carry. Homosexuality is an aberration and a genetic mistake. Protection of oneself with a firearm has been de rigeur for centuries and only recently demonized as "evil."
In reality, it’s a simple free speech issue.
How does Oregon law define “sexual orientation?”
These people are mentally ill...
What’s the phone number. I need to order a cake that ill pick up next year.
To do business in Oregon you play by Oregon rules..... I suggest moving your soon to be fined business to a state where equality is defined differently than in goofy Washington, goofier Oregon or goofiest California...
Cake baking has gotten so controversial....
File this under:
"Never overlook an opportunity to keep your big mouth shut."
This could definitely cost him.
More specifically, it could cost him a lot of his free time filling all the new orders he is going to get from people like me who are sick of this kind of bullying. But at least his cash register will be full.
On a related point, I read about a restaurant last year that said they would no longer serve children. I have a three year-old. Know what? I’m fine with this restaurant’s decision. Plenty of restaurants will serve my whole family. Many even cater to families. I don’t need to start bullying the ones that don’t. It’s a free country, or at least supposed to be.
Refuse to make the cake. Refuse to pay the fines. Close the business and reopen under another name if necessary. Go to jail if that’s what it takes. Fighting the good fight has never been easy. And it’s going to get a lot harder before it’s over.
Take whatever consolation you can from the fact that you are staying true to God.
These people need osur prayers and support. If I were in Oreegon I would definitely put in a standing order for cakes on all occasions. And a victory cake if they win.
Order a cake, pay for it, tell them they can send it whenever...
I am going to order some cupcakes for an under resourced youth group in the area. Now I just have to find such a group.. and place the order.
