“Go back and re-read my statement and see if you can figure out what the true point is...”
You made an assertion about Christians of 100 and 30 years ago and then failed to provide factual evidence to support it. (Re: post #18) All your examples are 500 to 1000 years old, pre-reformation, not 100 years or 30 years like you first asserted - except the KKK (!!!!). Using the KKK as an example of institutional Christian violence is so silly on the face of it that you beclown yourself by even using that as an example.
You are playing an old, familiar game of making false statements and then providing weak or non-germane examples. That may work with other liberals or those who don’t know their history, but not with many here on FR.

You are playing an old, familiar game of being obtuse.

I couldn't agree more.
[Me] So, yes, just a few decades ago, Christianity was a lot like Islam is today.
All your examples are 500 to 1000 years old,
Wow... no kidding. Caught that huh?
When showing that Islam and Christianity were a like in the past... I should probably use past examples. Go figure.
Using the KKK as an example of institutional Christian violence is so silly on the face of it
Perhaps you should go read up on the KKK and understand how it started and how large it became and how supported it was among portions of the US government and how it was protestant Christian organization... before you and Mark Twain have more in common. Really.
Islam has militant groups that go around in the name of their religion...ahh never mind you won't get it.
I don't know, maybe if you took some college classes or something on comparing religions you'd see common behaviors, common reasoning, common trends, etc...
You made an assertion about Christians of 100 and 30 years ago
errr I guess you missed that section on the Protestant/Catholic war in Ireland... /rollseyes
whatever...

I'm going to answer this...just to be helpful.
[Me] During the late 1930s and the 1940s, Jehovah's Witnesses attacked the Roman Catholic Church and other Christian denominations so vigorously that many states and municipalities passed laws against their inflammatory preaching.
[You] Your example of institutional violence isnt one. The JWs werent killing Catholics or visa versa on an INSTITUTIONAL level. Sorry, but your point is rubbish.
The example I gave has little to do with the JWs. It's about the suppression of the 1rst amendment by those sympathetic to those being targeted by the JWs. Much like Islamic governments do the critics of Islam.
*sigh

LOL, now you’re taking yourself out of context. Playing the moral equivalency game isn’t 1/2 as clever as you think it is. You’ve taught everyone on the thread all they needs to know. Your point is still rubbish.
