Peter the Roman is the last Pope, IIRC.

At least one pope resigned about 600 years ago.

In his statement, the pope said that he doesn't have the strength to carry on the job.

This is very unusual, to be sure.

I don’t ask this somewhat rhetorical question to be snarky, but, shouldn’t his, (and all of our) strength come from God? This seems highly unusual, especially coming from a Pope that is such a traditionalist.

Considering the prophecy of the Popes and the double blood moons of 2014/2015 occuring on Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles, and the tensions in the Middle East, things may get very interesting.

You know it’s funny you say that, but I felt the same forces at work at her announcement as I do for this one.

Namely, that the Enemy has been unchained for a little while, and that God is calling His elect not to rest their confidence in the poor things of this world but to look with hope to Eternity.

The world is being judged, and the Church is being prepared. It may not be the last judgment, but we need to prepare all the same.

I don’t put much stock in the historicity of that prophecy, but I’m keeping one eye on it, just in case. :)

If I recall correctly, there were people here at FR who said the pope was going to resign in February. I said no way, not gonna’ happen.

I am officialy eating humble pie. Delicious.

He’s getting old. Getting old doesn’t signify any lack of faith.

What this shows is humility.

What this shows is humility.

Agreed. I'm not Catholic but I find it impressive.
