Pray for our American Heroes and Nation

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: military; pray; prayer
And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him.

Father, every day is a good day to renew our minds to how much You love us and to Your first and second commandments to Your church—to love You and each other. You have told us that this Love never fails!

Help us today, dear God, to allow You to flow that love that You have “poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.” to You and to others. We receive Your promise that it will not fail.

Today we love the “kings and all who are in authority” over our Nation and our military men and women by praying for them. If they are enemies, we obey Jesus’ command to pray for them. If they are not enemies, we pray to support them. Either way, we trust in the Almighty to move great mountains on their behalf. Show them Your grace and mercy, God. Any who do not know and have not experienced Jesus’ salvation, show them how lovely You are. Those who know You and are called by Your name, give them boldness to declare Your love. Let the unbelievers around them be jealous of the grace: protection, fruits of the Spirit, favor and increase that You show Your beloved.

We declare our love for You today and thank You for all that You are surely doing to set our Nation on the right course and providing success for our military operations. We bless You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Small Sacrifice

February 13, 2013

As we anticipate the coming celebration of Easter, I begin thinking about the sacrifice Jesus made so that I could be reconciled to God. To help me focus on all that He gave up for me, I make a small sacrifice of my own. When I fast from something I normally enjoy, every craving for that food or drink or pastime reminds me of how much more Jesus gave up for me.

Because I want to be successful, I tend to give up something that isn’t a big temptation for me. Yet even then I fail. My inability to be perfect in such a small thing reminds me of why Easter is so important. If we could be perfect, Jesus would not have had to die.

The rich young man whom Jesus encountered along a Judean road was trying to earn eternal life by being good. But Jesus, knowing the man could never be good enough, said, “With men [salvation] is impossible, but not with God” (Mark 10:27).

Although giving up something does not make anyone good, it does remind us that no one is good except God (v.18). And that’s important to remember, for it is the sacrifice of a good and perfect God that makes our salvation possible.

I gave My life for thee;
My precious blood I shed,
That thou might ransomed be
And quickened from the dead. —Havergal
Jesus sacrificed His life for ours.

With God all things are possible. —Mark 10:27

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON
THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE

"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod"

Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

2 Corinthians 3:6 He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.

OH LORD, back then is was Jew or Greek, now it is Democrat or Republican…and the bottom line is: IT IS THE SPIRIT THAT GIVES LIFE…Dear LORD, when our founding fathers wrote the constitution is was in SPIRIT and TRUTH…and that is what TRUE WORSHIPERS must adhere to. Amen. OH LORD, renew the SPIRIT and TRUTH that based its foundation on YOU, “IN GOD WE TRUST”, once more. Breath LIFE back into YOUR CHURCH, YOUR PEOPLE, THIS COUNTRY so that we Bless YOUR NAME, Bless our Leaders, Bless our Soldiers, Bless our Families, even Bless those who persecute us. OH LORD, we are nothing without you. Forgive us for all kinds of posts that criticize and put down..for that letter brings death. I know I am tempted so many times to post negative things but YOUR SPIRIT quiets me enough to just share my heart with those I trust…Thank YOU for the family of believers and my brothers and sisters. Dear LORD, Give our TROOPS the heart to LOVE YOU and THIS COUNTRY as YOU designed…protect them, cover them, support them with DIVINE LOVE for there is no greater defense than that. And as always, read my heart as I pray for my Jake and our friends Alek. Amen.
