This sort of statement is dangerously close to Sex = Love which has the unfortunate implication that Rape = Love -- Which is outright false.

One has to be careful not to fall into logical traps by misreading the statement.

Church teaching is that Sex implies love, in the sense that sex apart from authentic love is immoral. But to rearrange the concept in the opposite order, love does not imply sex.

It is true that apart from the cross of Christ, one of loves greatest expressions is in married love. But that does not mean that Love equates to sex. The relationship is not equated synonymously in other words.

Except that the whole rest of Abp Muller's talk explicitly addresses and excludes that interpretation.

That is, in fact, the whole point of his talk: showing how God's plan for sex-- marital union, love-giving and life-giving --- constitutes this true linkage.
