This new Pope has real meaning (Vanity)

Posted on 03/08/2013 12:59:54 PM PST by MeOnTheBeach

I think this decision by the Catholic Church on whom is the new Pope could have massive world wide consequences.

I think this will be a turning point for the whole world.

Regardless of whether or not you believe the Catholic Church is the actual true Church of God on the earth, the Catholic Church does have world wide influence.

I believe that a liberal friendly Pope would be devastating to the world as a whole. It may very well end up splitting the Catholic Church and the world would slip further into moral darkness.

In this day and age the line between good and evil is clear. There is no straddling it any more. The contrast is too great.

My personal feeling is that this decision by the Catholic conclave is for all the marbles.

Catholic or not I think we should all be praying for them to pick a strong moral conservative leader.

I agree 100 percent...this is a crucial moment for the Church. If they choose a liberal pope, they will alienate conservative members, many of whom are already disenchanted with the Church’s drift to the left on issues such as illegal immigration and the bishops’ support of Obama back in 08.

I fear a split is coming one way or another, at least in the Apostate West.

Would it possibly be Pope Suburban I from Long Island?

In persecutione extrema S.R.E. sedebit. (Pope after Benedict XVI?)

Petrus Romanus, qui pascet oves in multis tribulationibus, quibus transactis civitas septicollis diruetur, & judex tremendus judicabit populum suum. Finis. (last Pope?)

Just what I’ve been saying. As a Catholic, it’s important to me. But every other Christian and person of good will should be similarly concerned.

The reason why the NYTimes and other media spend so much time demonizing the Church is that they recognize it to be one of the chief enemies of lest-wing progressivism.

All Christians and people of good will should be working together, and hoping that ALL of the various churches will pull themselves together and return to the basics of the faith. Episcopalians and Presbyterians as well as Catholics. No one should take pleasure in the problems of their neighboring churches.

We need a Great Awakening, like the one in the nineteenth century. Otherwise, I don’t see how we can turn things around.

I fully agree. I’m feel like i’m holding my breath, and I know I’m praying hard!

I think one if the reasons BXVI left was that he couldn’t hold them off any longer and he felt it was better to force the issue now than let them build up more power.

Be Not Afraid

Every Cardinal in the consistory to elect the next successor to St. Peter was appointed by either Blessed Pope John Paul II (who's personal motto was "Be Not Afraid!" or Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

That gives me hope that a socialist leaning Cardinal will not be considered.

I agree:
Of these two things you can be sure: both the Holy Spirit and the Gay Mafia know the man they hope to be pope, and their respective choices are not the same. Furthermore, with the unsurity within the clergy, the lay faithful will have to pray like never before to ensure that the College of Cardinals gets the selection right. For with world leaders like Obama now making the once unthinkable and always unnatural–gay marriage–the law, a strong pope may not only be this world's last chance to save the Church hierarchy, but the family as well. --Tom O'Toole

. . . the Catholic Church does have world wide influence.

Especially when the pope kisses the Koran.

Good catch. This was exactly the thing that motivated me to write the OP. It's what scares me the most...

How will it affect the LDS "living prophet"?

Lots of folks think the choice of the next Pope could signal the rise of the AntiChrist and the “last days”...

Such a “liberal” as you put it might very well feed that line of thought!

I’ve seen a few popes come and go with various political beliefs, things don’t change much from one to the next.

In its 2000 year history, the Roman Catholic Church has faced many challenges, from heresies, apostacies, and threats to its integrity, especially with the corruption in the Middle Ages and the persecutions during the Roman Empire. It has always faced many enemies, but the one it faces today is the same one all Christian churches face: a decadent culture of death and what Benedict XVI called the “Dictatorship of Relativity”. The progressive juggernaut that now has western culture under complete control is a threat to all believers, and the only thing left standing its its way are the Christian churches, especially the Catholic Church. This time, now, the church needs an enforcer, to admonish those who think they can disregard the church doctrines they find inconvenient in current society, CINOS like Pelosi, Kerry and Biden, to name just a few. It must stand up for what it believes in and not “weenie” out like so many of our current Republican leaders do. The time is now. It is as crucial a decision as the church has made in many centuries,in my opinion.

I think you are right. The same way our country needs leaders that will stand up for our Constitution and our country’s founding in limited federal intervention. What good would a Pope do that will be a yes-man for all of the American Catholic heretics. The church may as well be dead.
