Actually, both of these pasages are what Jesus "really" said. If your NT includes both John and Matthew.

No, Jesus was not for unprincipled unification. But yes, He prayed from the heart, that we should be one "as He and the Father are one." Which means, not one in moral indifference and chicanery, but one in love and truth.

John 10:16
I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

Bless you. And let's pray together, editor-surveyor, for the unity which He desires.

I would hope that all the also-rans were also worthy men, any one of hom could have made a good pope.

Like most--- not all, but most --- matters which depend on human freedom (the choice of a college major, of a spouse, of a job, and many other things) God gives us a number of "goods" among which we are free to choose. It's not always a contest between good and evil.

That’s only one opinion.

Watch them be reformed now.

>>When first meeting a Jesuit, one must always ask, Are you a good Jesuit, or a bad Jesuit?<<

That is what is so amazing — they ALL lose the Faith when the joined the Order (massive RCC Irony)...

Oh, but Pope Benedict worked quietly behind the scenes to remove two to three bad bishops a month.

Check for stories by Jeff Lawlwer on Catholic Culture and another story on EWTN. (Don’t remember that author.)

If you want the links I can send them to you.

PS. Many people (including priests did not know this was going on.)

ALL is a word like NEVER.

As soon as you say it, it is false.

Never say never.

Never say all!

Father John A. Hardon, S.J.

"Father John A. Hardon, S.J. was one of the three greatest teachers of the Catholic faith during the twentieth century. The other two were Pope John Paul II and Bishop Fulton J. Sheen."

Isn’t Father Mitch Pacwa a Jesuit? I think he is a very good man and a holy priest.

>>Your source please?<<

Obviously I was exaggerating to make a point.

I have never understood why that is so, but based on my discussions with Jesuits (where did you think I learned so much about the RCC and things like Erasmus?), something gets lost along the way.

Strange, but true (and you know it as well).

I think that generalization (I won’t call it a stereotype) is what shocked so many observers.

By now you know me, Sal. I make poke fun at His Church but I am thrilled at the new Pope Francis.

The fact he is a Jesuit makes it so much better. Some serious thought muscle behind his clear convictions.

Bless him!
