Slander. Calumny. Horsehockey.

New Pope Francis called homosexual ‘marriage’ a ‘machination of the Father of Lies’

He's very Orthodox.

Oooh, stories.

Gossip and innuendo on the internet.

Humble, loyal "Catholics" taking to the web to badmouth and denigrate a Pope minutes after he is elected.

But, if "Antonio" from an anonymous blog says it, it must be true.

That took what - two hours at most? - for the naysayers to come out.

About 20 minutes after the Benediction, the news stations had to break for commercials, as did WABC in NYC, so I made the mistake of flipping to NPR, which I knew wouldn't have commercials and I'd hoped was still in Rome. Nope.

They were already disparaging the Holy See. The tail end of one commentator brought questions of Human Rights violations in Argentina pretty much just because he was there.

They was more upbeat at the moment, stating, "If he's clean, this is a historic moment!"

Beg your pardon? "If he's clean?" I'm sure he freshened up a little before stepping out on the balcony.

“Clean”? talking about the internal issues of the catholic church (scandals)? Who knows... only God. So is he just Pope Francis or is he the first, second, etc? Ever been one named that before? Guess this blows the whole malachy prophecy apart?

If he is the enemy of catholic tradition, then he may be the friend of Yeshua’s inerrant word.

Let’s wait and see who he is; any hard guessing now is shaky at best.

Check out the links at the bottom left corner of that website. All anti-Catholic conspiracy crap (priests worshiping spiders, gay Catholics, comparing the Church to the antiChrist, etc).

Looks to be a site trying to mask itself as a Catholic site giving lip service to preserving tradition but it just traffics in the old conspiracy theories and other crap.

He's very Orthodox.

What? Somebody is "very Orthodox" because he opposes gay marriage? There are tons of Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses and Muslims who do that. Are they now "orthodox" Christians because of that? I hardly think so. People, stop acting like Christian orthodoxy is defined by nothing more than opposing abortion and gay marriage. There is a bit more to the faith than that.

BTW, I have no knowledge of anything in regards to Pope Francis and his orthodoxy. For all I know he is spectacular, and I fervently pray he is and will be.

It appears he means that the SSPX sect or perhaps the sedevacantist schism are the Roman orthodox.

‘He despises sacrality, and has de facto prohibited the application of Summorum Pontificum. He is an utter enemy of Tradition, ill-minded, almost maffiosi.”

Summorum Pontificum”... The document specified the circumstances in which priests of the Latin Church may celebrate Mass according to the “Missal promulgated by John XXIII in 1962” (the form known as the Tridentine Mass), and administer most of the sacraments in the form used before the liturgical reforms that followed the Second Vatican Council. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summorum_Pontificum

There are child abusers among them as well but do they get the attention the the CC gets? No, because they’re not in the media’s cross-hairs.

Agree, we don’t know yet how Orthodox he is but taking on the president of Argentine publicly on homosexual marriage and inadvertently calling them followers of the Father of Lies is an indicator.

Well, I will certainly agree it is an indicator of his boldness, which is very good, and his orthodoxy on that particular position. I just don't go in for the new Christian model of orthodoxy which defines the entirety of the faith in regards to one or two very controversial issues. To be orthodox means more than merely opposing abortion and gay marriage. These are important moral issues, but they don't comprise the Christian faith.
