AS ARCHBISHOP of Buenos Aires, he rode the bus, cooked his own meals and chose to live in a modest apartment instead of his official palace.

The son of an Italian immigrant railway worker, when made a cardinal in 2001, appealed to fellow Argentines to forgo flying to Rome to celebrate his elevation. He asked them to donate the plane fare to the poor instead.

Pro-life, against homosexual marriage and homosexual adoptions, against communism and marxism, and thinks social justice is more about being a good Christian and helping the poor rather than a basis for leftist economic theory.

Compromise is WAY WAY WAY overrated.

So is the use of the term in this article. He only "bridges the gap" to progressives if you think that the Catholic Church isn't charitable in its own accord.

This Pope despises socialists.

There’s a huge difference between Marxist ‘social justice’ which uses the poor as props and human shields in their trojan horse rise to totalitarian power, versus the Book of James type of Christian ‘social justice’ of making sure the weak and poor in your community are taken care of thru dedication, sacrifice, and vigilance as an expression of faith.

Who do these jerkweeds think they’re kidding?

He sounds great. When I heard that the elected pope was from S. America, I quickly checked to see if he was an adherent of liberation theology (Catholic Marxism) and was pleased to see that he is an opponent.

Here’s the deal -

God designed the world for people who loved and obeyed him. What we have is 10 billion people trying to trim their hedges with lawn mowers. Then we bitch at God because we cut our hands off.

Sounds like solid Catholic Theology to me (and I hope and pray he does think like a true Catholic Theologian). There is no such thing as a “Marxist” Catholic——any “social justice” junk is against subsidiarity. “Justice” never needs a “modifier”. It makes it meaningless (as all Marxists do when they put “modifiers” before nouns-—like “homosexual” marriage.

Pope Francis I, St. Francis of Assisi, Francis Scott Key, Francis Ford Coppola, Francis Scott Fitzgerald, St. Francis Xavier, Sir Francis Bacon, Francis Crick, Sir Francis Drake, Francis Marion, Francis Sinatra.

Not a real man in the bunch, hey?

It’s Pope Francis, not Pope Francis I. Until there’s a Francis II, no numeral follows his name.

A lot of the media is doing it today...it’s understandable because so many popes choose names of prior popes.

Francis= male
Frances= female

Note my middle name. Named after Francis of Assisi (female version). My mom had really high expectations for me.

St. Francis (a male) founded the Franciscan order. San Francisco is named after him. Frank is the Angliscized nick name for Francis. In Spanish countries the nick name is Chico.

I like it that Pope Francis starts with a perfect expression of how we should care for the poor - through voluntary charity. Too many clerics prefer to do it in an unChristian way - steal from some at gunpoint, subtract a fat “cut” to further goobermint power, and dribble out cultural dependency.

Sounds like the cardinals made a good choice.
