Pope Francis I clear on denying Communion to those who facilitate in abortion
LIVEACTION ^ | Rebecca Downs

This afternoon it was announced that Jorge Cardinal Bergoglio, who will now be Francis I, was chosen as Pope and the leader of the Catholic Church. Live Action has already put forth a piece regarding this historic occasion.

Francis IThe piece mentions how Cardinal Bergoglio criticized priests who wouldn’t baptize children of unwed mothers. Such is a telling passage of how devoted the Church’s new leader really is to the pro-life cause. He realizes that to be pro-life is not only to care about the unborn child before he or she is born, but about caring about the dignity of the mother as well. The Catholic Church and the world will certainly benefit from such a man holding such a position of power who is pro-life in the most understanding and compassionate of ways.

Such an instance is not the only way in which the Holy Father has been clear on his pro-life stance as a Cardinal. In an article about Francis I, LifeSiteNews mentions that in 2007, on behalf of the bishops of Latin America, Cardinal Bergoglio clearly stated that being disallowed holy communion was a consequence for those who facilitated in an abortion, politicians included.

The Catholic Church is clear on its stance against abortion. Yet denying communion to those who are known to facilitate in an abortion is not always as clear as it should be. Such situations are at times dealt with on a case by case situation. Often, the pro-abortion Catholics in question are reminded or encouraged to not partake in holy communion. In going against the Church, in these cases by facilitating in an abortion, a person is excommunicated by his or her own actions. More than a mere reminder or sense of encouragement may be needed.

The Church has done amazing pro-life work, often taking a forefront position. If the Church is to remain truly consistent though on its stance and is to be taken as seriously as possible, those who facilitate in abortion in any way, including and especially politicians, must not be permitted to partake in holy communion.

Pope Francis I looks to be a very promising pro-life leader for the Church. It is even more encouraging that he has taken such a clear and adamant stance against such Catholics receiving holy communion. Hopefully other leaders within the Church will follow the call of the Holy Father then.

Thank you Morgana. John 13:35:

Clear as a bishop is one thing - clear as Bishop of Rome is another.

We’ll see what he does with Biden.

This is great news.

I’m not a Catholic, but I’m very pleased with the choice.

I wonder if Joe Biden will be allowed to receive communion at the installation mass next Tuesday?

That CINO should be denied communion and should be thrown out of the CC along with every other "Catholic" pro abort politician, especially a pol like Pelosi that preaches false Church doctorine. If I was Pope for a day that's what I would do.

This will be confusing but Pope Francis will not be known as Pope Francis the First, a following pope who takes the name of Francis will be Francis the First.

Interesting that he does not say that Communion should be refused for anyone who takes a life.

I thought the Catholic Church had some things to say about forgiveness, as well.

Just some observations while so many single-issue folks enjoy venting their rage on their favorite topic.

Are the abortionists and those who support them SEEKING forgiveness? My understanding is that they believe they are doing nothing wrong.

(By the way, I am not a single-issue voter. There are many reasons not to vote for liberals.)

Joe Biden shouldn’t be receiving Communion when he’s over there.

I’d love to see him deny Plugs Biden the holy Eucharist when he leads the WH delegation. That would be priceless.

Well, I guess the Kennedy Klan and the rest of the Democrat Baby-killing Vermin who allege they are Catholics will now go off and start their own church!

he may be clear, but the MSM is omitting anything he has said to that effect and not even mentioning his first tweet.

Interesting that he does not say that Communion should be refused for anyone who takes a life.

Murder, like any other mortal sin, bars one from communion until one confesses with repentance, and does suitable penance.

As NCLaw441 points out, the ones facilitating abortion are denying they are doing wrong. That is the issue.

“trying to tie him to the Argentine junta”

I’ve seen at least 3 articles this morning attempting to do just that. That he did nothing in the Argentina “Dirty War.” Looks like the MSM is continuing their own “Dirty War” against any religious leadership that doesn’t subscribe to moral relativism.

Now the story from a lot of posters is that no one in the Vatican knew who the Vice president of the United States is since he isn’t local to them, so some priest accidently gave him communion since he was just another lone guy in the crowd.
