Forgive me if this is a hijack... I am not Catholic but have followed the making and office of the Pope since John Paul II, who happens to be a personal hero of mine, for very temporal reasons. I was career Navy during the cold war watched with astonishment as JP II defied and humiliated the communist regimes of Poland and the USSR in general, and gave communist dominated peoples hope they handnt had for decades. The power of the Pope for good was remarkable. He along with Ronald Reagan and Lady Thatcher remain my heros to this day. I pray, as a Protestant, that this Pope has some of the same influence on the world, particularly regarding the persecution of Christians everywhere today.
