He thinks he should help the poor... he donated the Bishop’s Palace in Buenos Ares to a mission that had no money.

He rejects collectivism, such as liberation theology and act consistently with Paragraph 1885 in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Bergoglio is an accomplished theologian who distanced himself from liberation theology early in his career. He is thought to be close to Comunione e Liberazione, a conservative lay movement.
