A great story of Jorge Bergoglio and a poor widow who wanted her children baptized
The Deacon's Bench ^ | March 17, 2013 | Deacon Greg Kandra

Posted on 03/17/2013 2:46:48 PM PDT by NYer

A revealing anecdote from an interview in 2009 with the man who would become Pope Francis:

Just a few days ago I baptized seven children of a woman on her own, a poor widow, who works as a maid and she had had them from two different men. I met her last year at the Feast of San Cayetano. She’d said: Father, I’m in mortal sin, I have seven children and I’ve never had them baptized. It had happened because she had no money to bring the godparents from a distance, or to pay for the party, because she always had to work.

I suggested we meet, to talk about it. We spoke on the phone, she came to see me, told me that she could never find all the godparents and get them together … In the end I said: let’s do everything with only two godparents, representing the others. They all came here and after a little catechesis I baptized them in the chapel of the archbishopric. After the ceremony we had a little refreshment. A coca cola and sandwiches.

She told me: “Father, I can’t believe it, you make me feel important.”

I replied: “But lady, where do I come in? It’s Jesus who makes you important.”

I believe this Pope will be a Good Shepherd. The liberals' hatred for him will of course burn with a hard and gemlike flame.

“Good Shepherd”

According to Malachy’s prophecy this is the last pope, “who will feed the sheep through many tribulations”.

If the Liberals are against him, that is proof to me that he is who the Church needs.

I remember when my mother met her first Grandkid. My daughter was Baptist at the time.

We had a get together, my mother came out with Leah wrapped in Blankets and said, “She is Baptised in the Name Of The Father, his Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

I agree.

Best line I've read in a long while.

"NOT! This has been now proven false. He did not take the name of Peter."

Depending on how many degrees of separation you want to play, he took the name of Francis after St. Francis of Assissi who was born, Francesco di Pietro di Bernardone :-)

St. Francis was baptized Giovanni (John). His father gave him the nickname Francis (Francesco). “Pietro” was Francis’ father’s name.

You do realize that the so-called ‘fulfillment’ of many of the St. Malachy prophecies involved several degrees of separation, and often times very tenuous connections, right?

I liked Pope Benedict because he upset the left/muzzies so I figured he was going to be good. Now Pope Francis is really getting the left in a wad so I know he is the right shepherd for the very dark days to come. Long Live Pope Francis!
