Asking for Freeper Help with Offensive Facebook Page

I have not posted on FR in a few years, but am hoping to rally some of the troops. Someone "liked" a page on Facebook, which is entitled "The Adventures of Mrs. Jesus," so it showed up on my newsfeed. The author of this page is the producer/writer of the top television show, "Modern Family," and has written for several very popular shows (e.g., Frasier). Apparently, that is not satisfying enough to this person.

The content speaks for itself. It is utterly degrading and hateful to anyone who professes Christ regardless of your denomination.

I complained to Facebook and cited their policy about hate speech. They regularly take down pages, especially if they mock or disparage groups that are glorified by the Left, Liberals and the Secular crowd. However, they have done NOTHING. I also wrote the author and asked him to take it down.

Any sincere comments and thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, Borges. I know I can block it. That’s not really the point. Why do we have to sit back and let evil creep and creep and creep into everything so that there is nothing left BUT the evil? I think we have been too complacent for the past 30 years and more. Everyone says, “change the channel,” or “turn it off,” and now it’s “block it.” It doesn’t work.

I am on Facebook for the same reason that most people I know are on it. To keep in touch with people that are not near home - family, friends, and so on. Why do people come on FR? They are both vehicles that can be used for good purposes. So, that’s my serious answer to your question.

You're right, PP. I knew what you were asking, and I know you didn't want a simple "block it" reply.

With Facebook, you're dealing with a hell-run entity. Although many people will carry on about how "wonderful" Facebook is for "keeping in touch with family and friends," the bottom line is that it's a "self-service surveillance" system that the powers-that-be are happy to use for data mining--not that you care about that.

However, since you know that commie bastards run it, don't be surprised when Christian-bashing is perfectly "fine," while anything that disparages the Left's causes is quickly shut down.

You have little recourse with "The Machine," so flee Facebook, posthaste--that's my suggestion.

OK, many of is know that we are our views are under attack and if the left sing loons get their way then our sppech and thoughts would be illegal so do this.

Report this, if nothing happens like you said then tell them that you will do a muslim page and that you and others are watching if they take one side etc.
Still nothing then do a muslim page,
if nothing then close your account and tell them why and how they are bigoted.
before you do that then get all the e-mails of your mates and that way you can still talk like skype, messenger etc

If there is a typo it;s because I;’m drinking Captain Morgan, also good luck and tell the left wing nuts to get in the real world not their mamby pamby land la la land

Thanks! I have spent the past several months agonizing over whether to leave Facebook precisely for the reasons you state! And I know you are right. But there is much good on there. God’s glory is revealed all the time and I know that God will use Facebook. And I do enjoy keeping in touch with many people on there.

I appreciate your comments. Thanks again.

I have family and friends all the way across the country from me and I don’t use Facebook to stay in touch with them. I use regular old emails. I can write messages to them and attach photos. If your computer is new enough, you can download Skype for free and view your pen pals on camera.

I don’t use Facebook and don’t see any reason too. Too many people are exposing themselves to too many problems and security breaches using Facebook. My advice: Don’t do what everyone else does. Do the opposite and correspond and stay in touch some other way besides “social networks”.

Facebook is designed to facilitate identity theft by providing family link info to the fraudsters so that they can spoof their way to control of your credit and bank accounts.

For example a common security question is “what is your mother’s maden name?” - A good ID thief can mine that from reading all of the messageas exchanged on your wall.

I never use the maiden name. I always thought that was stupid. I agree with you to a degree. The truth is that nothing on the Internet is “safe.” I try to be as “safe” as possible by NEVER playing any of the games or allowing the apps to access my information. I work two jobs. One is as a writer for a computer security firm, so I know quite a bit about Internet and computer security. Even my boss is on Facebook. There really is no such thing as privacy any more unless you are totally living off the grid...and even then, unless you can provide your OWN medical care, you are in the system! And I would imagine you have a social security number as well. But thanks for your input.

Exactly. I cannot imagine why anyone would open themselves up to thousands of strangers, who may not have your best interests at heart. Facebook has seemed extremely creepy to me from the get-go. Email works just fine for keeping in touch.

And then, of course, the surveillance thing. Plus, data mining by companies who want to sell you things you don't want or don't want your children to have. I.E. The head of marketing at Diageo, largest manufacturer of alcohol in the world, smugly stated recently that they hardly have to do market research, as people on Facebook tell them how to advertise to them. Many of those "people" are underage.

Take care and have a nice weekend.

No, obsessing is why you’re in this stew. If you go through life looking for reason to be offended you get offended a lot. If you go through life looking for things to enlighten you get enlightened a lot. It’s a minor page with next to nobody paying attention to it, block it and go find a more interesting page. I’d have never heard of it if it wasn’t for you, mostly looks like a bad Red Meat ripoff, but I’m from Tucson so I’m bias on that style of comic strip. With only 215 likes in nearly 2 months of existence it is simply NOT taking the web by storm. The real question is which one of your friends is one of the 215, you should probably unfriend them, they have no taste.

conclusion it was just another snoopy vehicle to gather info about its users and I considered it even more insidious than that.I watched the people I worked with just sit in a daze looking through all that junk night after night.
Let FB go,call family and friends and send a nice handwritten note every now and then.
I know it is not the answer you are looking for and if you want to continue your fight.God Bless you.

You did not ask me but will tell you anyway! I am on FB to keep up with family and friends. If it were not for FB, I would not have known about the birth of babies, illnesses, a cousin’s house fire. He has been in and out of the hospital ever since December. His sons had come to his house a few weeks ago to sanitize one bedroom so he could have dialysis at home instead of having to go out of town for it. Found out Monday night that his house had burned during a storm and he is back in the hospital with pneumonia. If it were not for FB, I could never keep up with my family and with friends. You do not have to like it but we love it. I also love the scenic pictures which are posted as well as family and friends’ pictures.

I’m with you Al. I have never had a Facebook page, nor a Twitter account. My circle of friends is very small. I choose it to be that way. If I want to communicate with them, I either send an email, call them, or visit them. I don’t need a social site to do those things.

Dearest Paved,

Please consider the “old-fashioned” virtues of email to keep in touch with your nearest and dearest. (Wondering if that is even safe with the latest coming out of Congress!)

Facebook is just a flash-in-the-pan mining expedition to track us all, our buying habits, and is easily turned over to .gov - we should know better than to post any information pertinent to our daily lives there. Not to mention the criminals who lurk/hack to find out when we are away from home, on “vacay”, etc.

Further more, sensible parents do not let their children post anything on FaceBook. It is all recorded for future employers, colleges, etc. for review.

Nothing on the net is private. You should have figured that out by now.

At the risk of sounding harsh, and this isn’t directed at you personally - don’t post anything on the internet, or even in email, that you wouldn’t want posted in your local newspaper gossip column, or to the .gov (IRS, etc.)

Even be careful in posting on this forum. You know it is being watched.

Use some common sense, friends.

Just ignore it. People can post whatever they want to. Don’t fall into the liberal game of looking to a higher power (courts, government, etc) to force your views. For better or worse, people can say what they want to in this country.

Even if there was a way; All forcing your views upon them is going to do is reinforce their views, it’ll martyr them, and they’ll find a new outlet.
