Asking for Freeper Help with Offensive Facebook Page

I have not posted on FR in a few years, but am hoping to rally some of the troops. Someone "liked" a page on Facebook, which is entitled "The Adventures of Mrs. Jesus," so it showed up on my newsfeed. The author of this page is the producer/writer of the top television show, "Modern Family," and has written for several very popular shows (e.g., Frasier). Apparently, that is not satisfying enough to this person.

The content speaks for itself. It is utterly degrading and hateful to anyone who professes Christ regardless of your denomination.

I complained to Facebook and cited their policy about hate speech. They regularly take down pages, especially if they mock or disparage groups that are glorified by the Left, Liberals and the Secular crowd. However, they have done NOTHING. I also wrote the author and asked him to take it down.

Any sincere comments and thoughts would be appreciated.

I think that was smart.

I have family and friends all the way across the country from me and I don’t use Facebook to stay in touch with them. I use regular old emails. I can write messages to them and attach photos. If your computer is new enough, you can download Skype for free and view your pen pals on camera.

I don’t use Facebook and don’t see any reason too. Too many people are exposing themselves to too many problems and security breaches using Facebook. My advice: Don’t do what everyone else does. Do the opposite and correspond and stay in touch some other way besides “social networks”.

Facebook is designed to facilitate identity theft by providing family link info to the fraudsters so that they can spoof their way to control of your credit and bank accounts.

For example a common security question is “what is your mother’s maden name?” - A good ID thief can mine that from reading all of the messageas exchanged on your wall.

I never use the maiden name. I always thought that was stupid. I agree with you to a degree. The truth is that nothing on the Internet is “safe.” I try to be as “safe” as possible by NEVER playing any of the games or allowing the apps to access my information. I work two jobs. One is as a writer for a computer security firm, so I know quite a bit about Internet and computer security. Even my boss is on Facebook. There really is no such thing as privacy any more unless you are totally living off the grid...and even then, unless you can provide your OWN medical care, you are in the system! And I would imagine you have a social security number as well. But thanks for your input.

Although many people will carry on about how "wonderful" Facebook is for "keeping in touch with family and friends," the bottom line is that it's a "self-service surveillance" system that the powers-that-be are happy to use for data mining

Exactly. I cannot imagine why anyone would open themselves up to thousands of strangers, who may not have your best interests at heart. Facebook has seemed extremely creepy to me from the get-go. Email works just fine for keeping in touch.

And then, of course, the surveillance thing. Plus, data mining by companies who want to sell you things you don't want or don't want your children to have. I.E. The head of marketing at Diageo, largest manufacturer of alcohol in the world, smugly stated recently that they hardly have to do market research, as people on Facebook tell them how to advertise to them. Many of those "people" are underage.

There’s a complain button, there’s also a block button. Use one then the other then move on with your life.

hey no problems though my typing is impaired right now LOL.

Seriously I have though been trying to get all my friends and lost friends mail and get off FB.
I found many good good pals I served with and a few school friends and FB is a good tool for doing that but for me and me only then it sorts of gives me the creeps.

Take care and have a nice weekend.

The page only has 215 likes. They really aren’t creeping into much. It’ll die of it’s own boredom soon, don’t give them free publicity.

No, obsessing is why you’re in this stew. If you go through life looking for reason to be offended you get offended a lot. If you go through life looking for things to enlighten you get enlightened a lot. It’s a minor page with next to nobody paying attention to it, block it and go find a more interesting page. I’d have never heard of it if it wasn’t for you, mostly looks like a bad Red Meat ripoff, but I’m from Tucson so I’m bias on that style of comic strip. With only 215 likes in nearly 2 months of existence it is simply NOT taking the web by storm. The real question is which one of your friends is one of the 215, you should probably unfriend them, they have no taste.

I got off of FB and I’m glad I did.My sister and I came to the
conclusion it was just another snoopy vehicle to gather info about its users and I considered it even more insidious than that.I watched the people I worked with just sit in a daze looking through all that junk night after night.
Let FB go,call family and friends and send a nice handwritten note every now and then.
I know it is not the answer you are looking for and if you want to continue your fight.God Bless you.

You did not ask me but will tell you anyway! I am on FB to keep up with family and friends. If it were not for FB, I would not have known about the birth of babies, illnesses, a cousin’s house fire. He has been in and out of the hospital ever since December. His sons had come to his house a few weeks ago to sanitize one bedroom so he could have dialysis at home instead of having to go out of town for it. Found out Monday night that his house had burned during a storm and he is back in the hospital with pneumonia. If it were not for FB, I could never keep up with my family and with friends. You do not have to like it but we love it. I also love the scenic pictures which are posted as well as family and friends’ pictures.

The title for that list should be “5 ways people waste their life”. It’s really all personal behavior, none of it’s facebook. Any website could be the destination for those bad habits, even this one.
