I’m sorry. It was supposed to be satire. I honestly thought that the Peter the Roman stuff was dead and silly. Too soon, too soon. *sigh*

You’d think the source (”I could tell you but then I’d have to kill you”) would tip more people off to satire, wouldn’t you?

Interesting speculation. Have you read any of - can recall his name just now - messianic jewish fictional writer.

My speculations [intermingled from many saintly writings]:
the apocalypse will be the next prophetic event paving the way for Israel to re-start their old testament religious practices, also the new world order of one language, one religion and one monetary system which will be pain-filled enough for any one lifetime.

Since we still have many tribes, languages and peoples who have still not been reached with the Gospel we are not as close as many think...

[anywhere from 10-100 years later - the end]

The apocalypse should cause both a great revival followed by a great falling away from faith and liberty [’where there is the spirit of Christ; there is liberty’] to strict religious duties and Sunday only worship [changing of the times prophecy].

Your thoughts please...

Sure.... I read everything he wrote. Whatever his name is. (/s)

Your thoughts please...

Thank you for the offer. Most people aren't interested in anyone else's thoughts.

My speculations...? I don't think the future is set, but I think 'we' are a rather predictable creature.

It would be presumptuous to do otherwise.

There are many people to whom presumption is a profession.

Thank God there are people like you.

Well then apparently God’s word has little bearing on your beliefs...

If the future were not set then Jesus would not have known and prayed for his ‘cup’ of sacrifice to be removed, but He did know and understand the truth of prophesy - Psalm 22 written over 8 centuries before Christ walked among us.

Or consider these future prophesies too:

Rapture

John 14:1-3
Romans 8:19
1 Cor 1:7-8 15:51-53 16:22
Phil 3:20-21 4:5
Col 3:4
1 Thes 1:10 2:19 4:13-18 5:9, 23
2 Thes 2:1, 3
1 Tim 6:14
2 Tim 4:1, 8
Titus 2:13
Hebrews 9:28
James 5:7-9
1 Peter 1:7, 13 5:4
1 John 2:28 - 3:2
Jude 1:21
Rev 2:15 3:10

Second Coming

Daniel 1:44-45 7:9-14 12:1-3
Zech 12:10 14:1-15
Matt 13:41 24:27-31 26:64
Mark 13:14-27 14:62
Luke 17:20-37 21:25-28
Acts 1:9-11 3:19-21
1 Thes 3:13
2 Thes 1:6-10 2:8
1 Peter 4:12-13
2 Peter 3:1-14
Jude 1:14-15
Rev 1:7 19:11 - 20:6 22:7, 12, 20
Malachi 4:2

Have you read any of - can recall his name just now - messianic jewish fictional writer.

It brings no one to mind. While I get along ok with Messianic Jews, I follow a different discipline.

My speculations [intermingled from many saintly writings]: the apocalypse will be the next prophetic event paving the way for Israel to re-start their old testament religious practices, also the new world order of one language, one religion and one monetary system which will be pain-filled enough for any one lifetime.

The general tenor of your speculation is close to mine, with the exception of your use of 'apocalypse', which is synonymous with Armageddon (the war of/at Megiddo).

My school of thought believes there is a distinction between 'the War of Magog (Gog & Magog)', which takes place south of Jerusalem in the Jehoshaphat Valley, and Armageddon, which takes place northwest of Jerusalem in the Jezreel Valley...

Armageddon is ended by the coming of Messiah in Glory, and is the definitive END. Thereafter, 'the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdom of YHWH and of his Messiah! And He shall reign forever and ever' That is the 'Millennial Kingdom'. Most of the prophecy will have rolled up by then, so everything else must needfully have taken place already.

I would identify the war you propose as the War of Magog, and I see it coming into being: Even as we speak, the rise of a Muslim Caliphate is unmistakeable. But as a subtext, The Ps 83 war may also be exclusive wrt the War of Magog, as the countries noted in Ps 83 seem to be missing from Magog. If so, that war would occur first (and would be the next marker in the prophecy).

Either way, something miraculous therein seems to remind the Jews of their place - Something which will open their eyes and convert them as a nation back to their roots. I believe it will be Magog, as it references cleansing the land to make it holy.

Since we still have many tribes, languages and peoples who have still not been reached with the Gospel we are not as close as many think...

That depends upon the meaning of 'close'. 2015/2016 is the next sabbatical year (and there may be signs (moon and sun) marking the Holy Days in that year, depending upon the barley). I don't believe that will be the end, but it may well be the beginning of the end. I think the next sabbatical cycle (2022/2023) is a grand Jubilee (which is important). The math makes it perfect, and I expect things to be done then.... but it is still a relatively short time to roll up all of the prophets. The next cycle (2030) is getting more reasonable, and 2037 would be the outside candidate, if I am reading the long-count prophecies correctly.

That, to me, is CLOSE. I said upthread that I expect to see the coming of Messiah, and I mean that. I have fifty-one candles on my cake (the fire dept is necessarily invited to my bday parties :P ), and I doubt I will see 80 if my family average is taken into account.

The apocalypse should cause both a great revival followed by a great falling away from faith and liberty [’where there is the spirit of Christ; there is liberty’] to strict religious duties and Sunday only worship [changing of the times prophecy].

Ok, now I am gonna blow your mind. The 'changing of the times' happened looooong ago. The Sabbath Day is Saturday. Remember, both Paul and John declared they were living in the last days. And in the last days, people will thirst for the truth, and find none. Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it! :D

Know one knows the day or hour but we are advised by Jesus to watch for signs of the end of the age. We can know the general time frame without knowing the specifics.

That's an awfully strong reaction, and judgment, based on what I've said.

If most of mankind were to follow Christ, practice his teachings, do you think the 'END' would come because the future is 'set' ?

That I can buy. But be careful to read all the things that DO NOT spell the end of the age: War, quakes, etc.

Dohhh, Joel Rosenberg. The reason I asked if you, roamer_1, had read him is b/c the things you’ve been writing dovetail nicely with his views of future prophecy - mine too.

Major miss for me until I read Joel - “our use of ‘apocalypse’, which is synonymous with Armageddon (the war of/at Megiddo). “ NOT as Joel indicates both Psalm 83, & Ezekial 37-39 are end times apocalypse - the war before the final battle where God supernaturally will wipe out Israel’s enemies and send a strong revelation of the truths of the one true God. Even the Left Behind series hinted at this war in it’s opening book, but iirc [been over 10 years since I read it] they don’t name it nor go into much detail nor scripture - just a great spiritual revival and a great falling away [we saw a small foreshadowing of this I think with Sept. 11th and American patriotism.

Also while I understand everything you were discussing re the Sabbath, it appears the end times will be marked by a counterfeit christianity that will work hand in hand with government authority to require only Sunday worship - no more Saturdays off for the working folks.

As I understand things the Sabbath was marked by holiness by not doing any work from sundown Fri to sundown Sat and then most likely a Sat. night worship service/sermon where the 24 hours preceding were family time and to share/grow in knowledge of the Word - to do no profitable money-related works not even cooking nor baking but more likely fasting or only light eating for those who struggled with fasting.

Strong reaction - yes, judgment - hardly. Please do a word study / differentiation between judgment and discernment.

A judgment requires a punishment not at all how it’s used in our ‘modern day’ culture.

Maybe you’d understand prophecy better if you knew how free-will is intertwined with God’s Providence - Romans 8:28 hints at this.

I would rather ask you, why do you think God gave mankind 'free-will'?

Well first of all you eliminated the need for the question in an earlier post where you noted the slide toward evil and I concurred with a couple of scriptures, but yeah I see Christs’ return as a necessity.

He has only fulfilled approx 1/3 of the messianic prophecies - namely the sacrificial lamb prophecies - we desperately need the victorious lion prophecies fulfilled along with His thousand year reign.

Personally, I see II Peter 3:8 as a reflection on the Genesis creation week where 6 days equals 6,000 years and on the 7th day He rested equals the 7th ‘day’ being our rest with his 1,000 year reign of righteous living. But then that’s just me - ymmv.
