Well, it’s reasonably obvious that some extreme forms of religiosity are mental illness.

Where this line is crossed is a subject of much discussion. Some consider any religion to be nuts.

Yes, of course, Faith in God is mental illness, but preening homosexuals having anal sex in the open in “Pride” parades is perfectly normal. Butchering babies in the womb, as they emerge from the womb, and even after they are born, is perfectly normal.

Does Time magazine believe young Islam children suffer from mental illness for their belief or does this mental illness apply only to Christians?

Does anyone even read TIME anymore?

I do not even see it in the doctor’s office waiting room anymore.

And they get TIME for free...

If your child is immersed in scripture after school and prays regularly throughout the day,

So by time's definition... muslims, who learn to recite the koran by heart and pray 5 times a day are mentally ill... Who knew? I wonder if they've ordered their armed security?

TIME editors trying to convince stupid readers to abandon their faith and return their children to the sick culture that is designed to destroy them.

What a fascinating article!! Of course, scrupulosity has never been recognized by the Church as a character flaw, so I am sure this article was an eye-opener at the Vatican. I hope all the parents reading TIME will keep their children as far away from the corrupting influence of that Jesus fellow as possible.
On the other hand, many objective observers are concerned that children who are taught liberalism are the victims of a mass psychosis, although I don’t expect to see that issue addressed in TIME.

I can see it now...

[M Kehoe goes to gun show under the proposed new federal background check]

M Kehoe: I'd like that Mossberg 500 tactical please.
Seller: Sure, nice weapon. Please fill out the new form 4473.
M Kehoe: Sure...what is this new line here [pointing to form]?
Seller: Oh, it's the new question about religion. Just say "no" in that block.
M Kehoe: What a minute, I do practice my faith. I can't lie on this form.
Seller: I'm sorry mister Kehoe, but if you answer "yes," I will have to deny the purchase.

[M Kehoe decides now is the time to go lone wolf]

Practicing and propagandizing liberalism is a form of mental illness, therefore I have zero interest in hearing the inmates of the media asylum tell me what mental illness may be associated with.

Depends on what it is that they are observing. Many “religious” practices have nothing to do with God, but are invented by man.

And again I ask the same question I ask myself daily: Exactly how much longer are normal, hard-working, religious people going to continue to allow these vile, perverted, and ignorantly dangerous liberal scum continue to denigrate them without repercussions?

Liberals overzealous practice of their faith (lies) is a mental health issue.

I can see three, semi-legitimate arguments to this.

1) The child has adopted religion not out of faith, but out of what might be called “stimulus-response superstition”. Somewhat hard to describe, other than the child associating religion with sorcery or black magic. “If I pray to God, then he will kill that boy I hate or give me a million dollars.” Any legitimately religious adult would be pretty horrified with this line of thinking.

2) The child’s (probably single) parent is mentally ill, with religion as a template, and are trying to raise their child to be a hyper-religious sociopath. While such parents are thankfully pretty rare, Hollywood loves to pretend they are mainstream religious people.

3) The child themselves has an underlying medical condition that makes them mentally imbalanced, which can manifest itself in several ways, to include the child thinking they can heal themselves through intense prayer or even fanaticism. In older teens, along with several other symptoms, this can be diagnostic for schizophrenia.

So much better to have a child that is homosexual and will die by the age of 50 from STD’s. That is mental health to these giants of intellect.

Thanks, I am happy with my praying kids...

“But some kinds of religiosity could be a sign of deeper mental health issues.”

Islam and Wicca seem to qualify.
