This is where we remind the misinformed idiots (aka “the general public”) that it was the Democratic Party that used “Jim Crow” laws to prevent blacks from voting, that founded the KKK (who hanged blacks and Republicans) and fought tooth and nail to keep segregation. Remind them that “Bull” Connor was a Democrat who used fire hoses and police dogs against minorities.

My professor of a government class in college told us that in the beginning, republicans were for civil rights and the democrats were not, then in the middle of the century; without any reason or warning, both parties reversed their positions.
