Lord, rest the soul of Thy servants the innocent victims who perished so tragically, and heal the wounds of the wounded, and protect America.
Lord, have mercy on the cruel man or men who perpetrated this.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
Convert his heart--and all our hearts.
Prayers will be said throughout their time of need.
Prayers lifted.
Praying, lighting candles, saying the rosary.
Praying, lighting candles, saying the rosary.Beautiful commentary; I'm going to join you. Amen!
Prayers for God’s blessings on all.
Thank you for the beautiful Orthodox prayer!
As is our custom during the Fifth Week of the Great Fast, we are planning to attend the Akathist Hymn to the Theotokos this Friday at a Greek Orthodox Church.
The beautiful and very powerful Kontakion used in that service speaks of the Most Holy Theotokos as the Protectress of the City—originally Constantinople. It might also be Boston—or Belgrade, or Jerusalem—any beloved city where there is a Christian presence.

Here’s an English version (modern, non-Greek versions omit reference to “Your City”:

I will think of the Boston Marathon when I sing the Kontakion.
By the prayers of the Theotokos, O Lord, save and protect Your City!!!!
Thanks for the post; ping. Prayer (again) BUMP!
