Religious women press for change (BARF ALERT)
Boston Globe ^ | 4/15/2013 | James Carroll

Posted on 04/15/2013 4:41:25 PM PDT by markomalley

Mormon women cannot be priests. Catholic women cannot be priests. Muslim women cannot lead prayers in mixed-gender congregations. Jewish women are restricted in praying at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. But Mormons have the “Let Women Pray” campaign. Catholics have the “Women’s Ordination Conference.” Muslims have “Muslims for Progressive Values.” Jews have “Women of the Wall.” What is going on here?

Last week, a Mormon woman led a prayer before 100,000 people gathered in Salt Lake City — a first for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Also last week, 150 Jewish women prayed at the Western Wall, five of whom were arrested by Jerusalem police. In West Hollywood, a Muslim gender-equal prayer space has been in operation for most of a decade. On Holy Thursday last month, in an annual ritual commemorating Jesus’s washing of the apostles’ feet, two of the 12 whose feet Pope Francis washed were women — another first.

(snip)

“To protect Creation . . .” This is how Pope Francis defined his purpose in his papal installation sermon. “. . . and to protect every man and every woman.” Whether Francis sees it clearly yet or not, that vow can only be fulfilled by gender equality — inside the Catholic Church, and out. And, yes, creation does depends on it.

There are a lot of things that His Holiness can do. Changing the rules of ordination to allow women is not one of them.

Get over yourself, commie puke.

Catholics have the “Women’s Ordination Conference.”

No they don't.

Heretics have the “Women’s Ordination Conference.”

And yet gay men are still repulsed at the idea of having sex with a member of the OPPOSITE sex. Who really discriminates when you get down to it?

Any woman can decide that whe is a priest.

She just can’t claim to be a Roman Catholic Priest.

It isn’t enough that bad people are free to be heretics, the left would make it required that good people be heretics too.

Schisms occur.

In most of the USA, it is not a big deal for anyone to freely change their professed religious affiliation.
I would argue that to remain in false communion with any “church”, is itself an evil act.

I don't agree with those who seem fixated on “changing the rules” for those others whose spiritual beliefs they disagree with.

In the USA, if no group/church exists, one is free to start their own. Or to become a church of one.

Many would deride me for advocating “picking and choosing” what spiritual laws to “believe” to be truth.
In part, I do.
But do it honestly, after prayers and with spiritual humility.
The corruption of many major religions came about because many of those who profess belief, do not believe.

In the USA, a peacefull, loving purge of unbelievers from any established “church” is possible. And probably needed.

Elsewhere? It could be dangerous.
How important do you consider your beliefs?

“Jewish women are restricted in praying at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.”

I thought Jewish women could but had their own section.

The Globe lives in a different and rather perverse universe, while the attempts to justify female elders/bishops (which is what they are called, not a distinctively "priests") and negate male headship require such wresting of Scripture that they are an argument against them.

So Mr. Carroll presumes to know better than the man the Holy Spirit led teh conclave to choose to lead the Catholic faithful on Earth? Why am I not surprised?

Excellent observations. What you've described is the difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives do not feel the need to force their beliefs on others. Liberals do. For all the prattling about tolerance, they are the most intolerant people in America.

This is why gay marriage and free exercise of Christian conscience cannot peacefully coexist. Christians might admonish gays and might even invite them to Christ or to therapy to help them change their ways. But they will never sue them or seek to use the law to compel them to accept the Christian way. The gay mafia, on the other hand, has no compunction about using the club of the law to force Christians to violate their beliefs.

The Boston Glob ran fake photos of “US soliders” “raping” “Iraqi women” that were stolen from a porn website as “proof” of “warcrimes” in “Iraq” “under Boosh’s watch!!!!”.

To provide and comfort to the enemy in wartime is naked treason. At least they provided the naked photos.
