I have gone to this source after your the purchase goes through they have Benedictine priests blessing these medals. I got a St Benedict prayer cloth from here gave to friend. His new age spell casting wife fell down every time he showed it to her. He kept it in his wallet. Powerful anointing.
This is the only one I know of that has it blessed when you receive it. Most you have to get priest to bless not from them-it will be blessed when received.

Can any type of priest bless a St. Benedict Medal or does it require a benedictum priest with a “special” blessing?

I think I would ask the Aunt if it’s ok, then call a priest to give him last rites.
Continue praying the chaplet. :) I will say a chaplet for him, and you and your family
