Posted on 05/23/2013 9:59:02 AM PDT by CedarDave
Wednesdays St. Pius X graduation ceremony was at least one student short.
Transgender student Damian Garcia elected to stay home after the school told him he had to wear a white robe, for girls, instead of the black worn by male students. Garcia was born a girl named Brandi until he legally changed his name last year.
He said the school and archdiocese told him they would refer to the gender on his birth certificate, which is female, and require him to wear the white robe.
The archdiocese did not return a phone call seeking comment Wednesday. Although Garcia has received a lot of support from the community, ... in letters to the Journal and on the Journals Facebook page, people have praised the school for not giving in to the request.
The University of New Mexicos LGBTQ Resource Center will host a graduation ceremony for Garcia from 5 to 7 p.m. May 30 in a courtyard next to Scholes Hall on main campus.

Garcia is STILL a girl. "Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg" - Abraham Lincoln
Man up!...Get a grip!...never mind!
And the problem is...what?
A mentally ill person is a mentally ill person. You’ve got to play the hand that you’re dealt, and this person’s parents failed big time.
I'm an Appalachian Hillbilly, near-sighted, and my arms don't fully extend.
Where are the state-funded resource centers and inclusion programs and awards programs and scholarship programs for these three categories of human identity?
On the other hand, any school program, office, or staff position named "green" or "LGBTQ" or "diversity" or "multiculture" or "inclusion" or "environmental" or "awareness" are easy targets for budget and org chart elimination. Just do a word search of the budget and org chart and org phone book.
Freakazoids must satisfy their self-loathing by entering environments where their fetish is expressly prohibited, then playing the martyr.
Hardly ever in today's environment - they go to the lamestream media and the press to press their "right" to push their deviant lifestyle on the rest of us.
(BTW, I had to go to the Urban Dictionary to find out what the Q in "LGBTQ" means - thought it meant "queer" but it's "questioning.")
She changed her name to Damian? Fitting.
Sorry, Brandi, you’re a girl. Unless you’ve figured out a way to change an X chromosome to a Y after the fact.
“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”
Hence, you can change the wrapper. You can change the name.
But you can never change the nature of the beast.
No matter what they do, they cannot change their DNA.
So what. No one gives a crap about some mentally confused person skipping their graduation because their mother’s egg and father’s sperm screwed up at conception.
Take a number, right behind the people who are dying of terminal cancer, heartbreak or who were left behind to be raped and killed, ignored by their country for eight hours while psycho inbreds, who screw infants, shoot at you in the name of a pedophile.
From the story sounds like “he” hasn’t had the addadictomy yet.
trannies are freaks who need to shut up and leave the normal people in peace
Honestly, they used to actually get the surgery before referring to themselves as a different sex. Now, all they have to do is change their name and then demand everyone refer to them as a different sex? This is nuts. Glad this one school decided not to go along with this individual’s insanity.
That’s what I was thinking...
(Very difficult to know which personal pronoun to use to identify this person in a discussion such as this.)
“OK, ‘Brandi’, we’re all watching now....go ahead and do your little thing.”
I'm surprised she wasn't expelled then.
I’m curious as to whether she was in the girls’ gym class or the boys’
The thing that I don’t “get” aside from the whole transgendered thing itself.... is....
what’s the big deal ?? This graduate has chosen an alternate lifestyle.... knowing that it would be difficult and he wouldn’t be accepted by all and that there would be things he would be left out of.
He should have known and when they told him to wear the white robe..... either done it and graduated with his class....
or not done it and just accepted his diploma and moved on.
To do anything else is a “GET ATTENTION / LOOK AT ME” thing.
The medium is the message.
Deviancy is normal.
taboo is hate spreech.
It makes government the decider of normal and not normal.
This is a mentally ill person. They should not be rewarded for their sexual fetish deviancy.
Wrong. It does mean "queer." If you add another Q, that Q stands for "questioning."
There is also an A for "assexual" but I believe this might also be taken for "affirming." Another A for "allies," and an I for "intersexual."
I have a child at Virginia Commonwealth University, which keeps me informed of this sorta thing from their public affairs news office.
Note this announcement of VCU's Lavender Graduation ceremony, for "GLBTQIAA" students, sponsored by the state school's Department of Gender Sexuality and Womens Studies in the College of Humanities and Sciences, the Office of Diversity and Equity, the VCU and MCV Alumni Associations, Equality VCU, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) and VCU ASPiRE.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
P.S. I note that VCU left out one of the Q's.
Wonder what letters “UNBELIEVABLE” would mean??
They have so far left out:
A any age
G goat friendly
C adult child with parent
So if I change my name to Ladder 3 does that mean I can demand to be treated as a Fire Engine.
Maybe if her parents had given her a real name, instead of “Brandi,” she’d have turned out normal.
