Vatican Punishes French Priest for Being a Freemason
BBC ^ | 5/24/13

A Roman Catholic parish priest at an elite French ski resort has been stripped of his Church functions for refusing to renounce Freemasonry.

Father Pascal Vesin was ordered by his bishop to cease his work in the Alpine resort of Megeve, the parish said.

Bishop Yves Boivineau had warned Fr Vesin about his "active membership" of the Grand Orient de France lodge.

Freemasonry has been condemned as anti-Christian and anti-clerical by various popes through history.

Bishop Boivineau ordered the priest to cease his functions "at Rome's request", the parish said.

In March, the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith - effectively the Church's watchdog - asked for the priest's departure.

Masonry is seen very differently in Italy. Even of late, the “Propaganda Due” or P2 lodge was deeply involved in lots of schemes, and caused substantial scandal.

I’m marrying a Catholic girl and one of the questions the priest asked me was “Are you a member of any ‘condemned society’ like the Freemasons or the Illuminati?”

It should be common knowledge that Catholics don’t want Freemasons in their ranks.

FYI, Freemasons will steal a consecrated host -- the Body of Christ -- take it back to their lodge and then do various unmentionable things to this Body of Chirst.

Totally forbidden by the Catholic Church.

KoC is the Roman Catholic alternative to Freemasonry.

No it isn’t. It is a fraternal organization, but they do nothing that the Freemasons would do.

Been a Mason for thirty years have never done or been asked to do anything negative toward Catholics or any other organized religion. Masons are required only to profess a belief in God. Catholics are welcome to be Masons as are any one else who believes in God. I would not encourage a Catholic to be a Mason for obvious reasons but if he were to choose to join I would welcome him to the brother hood!Masonry does not profess to be a substitute for any religion and discourages people from doing so!!!

Of course not, because some of the things Freemasons do are condemned by the Roman Catholic Church.

KoC, as I said, is the alternative. It provides, as you say, a fraternal organization for Roman Catholic men who are seeking such, and might become interested in joining the Masons.

At least that’s how one of the Jesuits I had as an instructor in high school explained it to me.

We had at least one Catholic in my lodge. I haven’t been active since the 70s.

On July 16, it will be 43 years for me.

Have many Catholic friends some close ones that are Knights of Columbus. In some communities both organizations have common projects. The realtionship in those communities is healthy and honest.

The discussion of our relationship with Catholics here is pointless here. The “authorities” here speak utter nonsense, about things they do not understand.
