Pope May be Planning Peace Meeting Between Abrahamic Religions
Creative Minority Report ^ | May 31, 2013 | Matthew Archbold

Posted on 05/31/2013 2:28:49 PM PDT by NYer

So it seems the Pope may be considering pulling together representatives of the three major Abrahamic religions to discuss why it's not appropriate to kill others in the name of God. There's a few problems I see right off and that seems to be who do you speak to as a representative of Islam who would have any say that would resonate with the Islamic world.

I could give a million reasons why something like this wouldn't work but one must never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit in the cause of peace. Pray that if the Pope decides to do this, some good comes out of it.

UCA News reports:

Israeli government sources claim Francis is apparently thinking of calling a meeting between leaders and faithful of the world’s three biggest monotheistic religions, in Rome, to launch a message of peace, countering violence and the use of God’s name to justify hatred and terrorist acts.

The sources say the Pope announced his intentions during an Audience on April 30, but there was no mention of this in the communiqué the Holy See’s issued after the Audience.

President Shimon Peres of Israel “told the pope that there are people who use God’s name to justify terrorism” and religious leaders should “say out loud that God did not give anyone permission to kill their neighbor.”

According to the information contained in a summary of the Audience received by the Israeli government, Francis told Peres he “whole-heartedly supported” his appeal against violence and that “he wanted to promote a meeting between religious leaders and faithful of the three major religions” founded by Abraham, “in Rome”. The aim would be to “make people see” that the religions “oppose violence and terrorism.”

If these statements were indeed made during the Audience, it looks like the pope is thinking about possible peace initiatives that would be restricted to the world’s three major monotheistic faiths.

Point of contention, there will never be peace until one of the religions stops killing apostates, stops treating other religions as inferior, stops conversion by the sword, stops using religion as an excuse for slavery, female genital mutilation, taxation, rape, etc etc.....

I am sure two of the two major abrhamatic religions will get along just fine more or less. The “third” one that is a “Compelte Lives system” will continue to be the bur in the saddle....

Islam is not Abrahamic. But muslims *claim* that Abraham WISHED he’d been a muslim. Islam is warped pathology living in a time warp.

One of these religions has done an extensive job of setting itself apart, rewriting history and distorting the meaning and intent of the rules set down long before they ever came upon the scene. For one thing, they no longer practice anything like the Decalogue, choosing instead to impose the judgment of fallible men over the immutable wisdom painfully acquired over the ages. And there is nothing at all like the “good Samaritan” rule or the Golden Rule anywhere in their extensive re-write of religious texts, but there is a great deal of “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” in their adopted philosophy.

Ideology disguised as a religion is really a cult, and should be treated as such. Government by a self-appointed theocracy has never been very satisfactory in the history of mankind.

Probably works just fine in an anthill, though. Or in something like the Collective among the Borg, which assimilates its opponents.

“So it seems the Pope may be considering pulling together representatives of the three major Abrahamic religions to discuss why it’s not appropriate to kill others in the name of God.”

First of all, Islam is NOT an Abrahamic religion. Middle eastern archaeologists have proven this to be the case.

Secondly, I wasn’t aware Christians and Jews were killing “Mooselimbs” in the name of God. I thought we were killing them to protect our people and societies from their savage barbarity. God has nothing to do with it as far as we’re concerned.

As much as it may sound the same, there is no “peace” in “appeasement”, which is the course this Pope seems to have embarked on.

The Holy Spirit at work?
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

Uh-oh. Here comes the "consolidation."

I certainly hope that there are Orthodox Jews who refuse to take part.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone.

The Catholic Church incorporates many ancient Babylonian customs into their religion. This comes from a time when church leaders felt it was a good way to bring pagans into the fold.

Besides, I don’t think Islam is an Abrahamic religion. Its roots can be traced all the way back to ancient Babylon. It looks to have been little more than Baal worship in the beginning.

So maybe I’m wrong, but what the church is doing has been done before.

God bless, Pope Francis. And I hope that blessing includes enlightening Pope Frances to the understanding that there are but TWO Abrahamic religions—Judaism and Christianity. Mohammedism is NOT an Abrahamic religion. It is an update to the Arabs pagan religion by Mohammad who HATED the members of the TWO Abrahamic religions.
