You’re being a little ambiguous.

The Ordinary makes all pastoral assignments in his diocese. He may be advised by a committee, parish council, vicar for clergy, etc, but the decison is the bishops and his alone.

What is the problem with the pastor?

Replacing one requires some background on moral turpitude, or something of that nature. Merely being a leftist loon these days does not a recall make.

You want to get rid of your pastor, or you are upset that you are getting a new one?

In any event, the bishop giveth and the bishop taketh away.

Usually a priest is assigned to a parish for six years. That can be extended another six. But then, unless a new church is being built, the priest will be moved to another parish at the discretion of the Bishop/Archbishop.

This is normal. There are exceptions; I’ve known for an older priest to stay at a smaller parish for years and years, and to the contrary, I’ve know priests who were only in a parish for one year before they were sent back for more schooling.

Welcome to FR.

Are you offering yourself as a Catholic pastor replacement?

What exactly does that mean?

There was a previous pastor at my parish who took the assignment in 1909 and stayed there till he died, sometime in the 1950's. Turned the parish into something of his own private little fiefdom. To avoid that now they make these guys move on.

On the other hand we’ve had Baptist friends whose churches became embroiled in very bitter, divisive knock-down battles over whether to fire or hire a pastor.

Welcome to FR. Most folks start slow by not posting articles, just making comments on other articles. Nothing too controversial.

And whatever you do, don't post a Vanity right away. Especially if it doesn't make any sense.

The Catholic Church gets this right in principle, and usually right in practice. Moving the pastor as a normal matter of course prevents the cult of personality forming, and eliminates any stigma that might be associated with being transferred. The hierarchical decision-making also prevents the acrimony within the community.

That's my understanding, too - thanks for the confirmation.

Bishop said so. I don’t think there’s more to it.

At one parish, as the current Pastor was being reassigned, some parish members decided to distribute a petition to be signed so that they could keep the current pastor at their parish.

DON’T DO THAT!

Yes, fighting the Bishop over a pastoral assignment will only result in the kind of division and turmoil that afflicts our Protestant brothers and sisters.

"Catholic Pastor replacement, understanding the process can anyone help?"

VS

"Can anyone help me understand the process of Catholic pastor replacement?"

A sentence diagram will show that putting the subject and predicate before the direct and indirect object results in a more effective sentence structure.

Hope that helps.
