When the Islamist proselytize and spread their anti Jesus propaganda on FR as the LDS have in the past we'll be there. So far that doesn't seem to happen, not many of them around I guess.
In the mean time you assume we cannot multi task else where...
Nice try with the whole Manson thing, a tick cliché but adorable...
I believe that Harry Reid is among the elite, the most devout, devoted Mormons, a Temple Mormon, and that he is issued special Mormon identification with a bar code proving that he has paid enough, ID which must be renewed annually so that he can enter the Temples of the Mormon elite.
gee: only 100 “jack mormons” in the Salt Lake city area?
Anyone living in the area know of many ex mormons, jack mormons, and those who are estranged from the church but keep some ties.
Sadly, it seems that most ex-mormons wind up as atheists.
shunning happens, but isn’t limited to the LDS Church...
I know of good Christians who “shun” their gay relatives, and I’m old enough to remember when a lot of Catholics shunned divorced members and those who married outside the church. Thank god, Vatican II stopped that one.
And if you really really want to be “shunned”, try saying “I like Sarah Palin” at a party, or mumbling at work “the gay lifestyle is not compatible with God’s idea of marriage”.
We visited SLC a couple years ago. I walked over to the Temple Square just to see it. Cool piece of architecture, so had to go look. I was there on my own, so had plenty of time to take it in. I saw lots of families all dressed just so going here and there. There was a bride and groom and their wedding party having pictures taken outside the temple. They all looked so happy.
It was so sad to see all these probably really nice, normal folks who believe such a big lie. They do not know the true Christ and if they stay in the cult, they never will. I had to leave because my heart was very heavy for them. Tonight pray for Mormons everywhere that someone gets to them with the true Gospel of who Jesus is and what He did for them.
Not sure where your ward is but the ward I familiar with does send friendly reminders.
Please explain. Projecting is so easy to do, but providing factual rebuttals are quite another thing altogether.
Character assassination isn't very becoming.
It does make me "wonder" why mormons can't do one of two things; either provide a reasonable, logical rebuttal or just ignore the post.
But I will say this, from the very beginning of mormonism, mormons have attacked all of Christianity, so you should be well versed in how to respond to that which you call "attacking".
When you dish out heaping helpings of apostasy, damnation and accusations, you should be ready to help yourself to the buffet once in a while.
So a Pastor doing the Lord’s work day in and day out is “mental”? I find that “justification” to be illogical.
Posting factual anecdotes, information or revelations about mormonism isn’t “attacking”, unless one is; small minded, completely obedient to the admonition of those who reside in SLC or scared to find out the truth.
Many mormons never see, read or hear the truth behind the doctrine and theology to which they “pledge their very lives”. Yet, when an experienced theologian starts posting the information, he’s met with innuendo, character assassination and malfeasance.
Poor form.
Yes they are. I don't see anyone saying otherwise.
However, those who post about the doctrine and theology of mormonism, are, shall we say, characterized as anything but?
You would do well to familiarize yourself with the rules of the RF.
Do you have evidence to show that not ONE bishop has EVER asked a member to see their W2 during tithing settlement?
If you don’t, how do you know that svcw or their family members are “lying”?
Many of us ex-mormons are quite familiar with how things are supposed to work, but that’s not always the case, is it?
How many wards follow the counsel of the 1st presidency when they issue an edict, about, shall we say, Scouting? I can tell you that almost all in my area don’t. Anecdotal? Sure. But it happens.
You are correct, I would like to add, that is not the point here.
The point is that lds do shun those who leave, and it is denied by other lds.
No, only 100 people bothered to show up, most normal people think when they stop going for a time, their names are dropped from membership roll....
Not the case with lds, with lds removal requires formal action.
Reid received an award not more than four years ago from BYU as an example of what a good mormon should be.
I hardly think Colofornian's "life's work" is posting threads about Mormonism's many errors and cult status on Free Republic. But, if he/she is called by the Lord to do so, who's business is it to decide for them that they shouldn't obey that command? All Christians are given a part in the "ministry of reconciliation" and to preach the gospel to EVERYONE they can. This place is just as good as any, and maybe even MORE so because of the wide readership.
I'm sure to many Jewish religious leaders in the first centuries after Christ, the Apostles, disciples and their converts were "attacking" Judaism and it was enough a part of their life's work that all but one Apostle and thousands of Christians died as martyrs for the cause of Christ. If you are willing to die for your faith, that pretty much means it is a BIG part of your life.
Those who once were Mormons know firsthand the bondage they felt to the system, so who better to speak with full knowledge about the subject than them? I can imagine worse life works to have.
Salvation and truth have no bounds, digital or otherwise...
Amen! I think today, probably more than at any other time in history, the opportunity to hear and know the Gospel is unparalleled. We can only help plant the seed or water it, God is who gives the increase and to Him goes ALL the glory.
