Ditto hear too .45 long colt - although I expect since anti-christ is a counterfeit of the real thing then you’ll be expecting someone fairly similar to what the little girl drew and/or similar to the most favored imagined images throughout history.

Also my prior comment regarding the 2nd commandment was directed toward your prior posts.

Interesting that you say that because when I had that dream that Jesus was talking to me, the image of His face was what I recall when I woke up and the thing I remember the most was His eyes and how compassionate they were.

The Shroud is fascinating, no doubt about it.

I guess the thing that causes me to consider it less than others people do is that even if it were real, it would not convince the skeptic.

People believe or don’t believe because they CHOOSE to, not because they can’t or there isn’t enough evidence.

Abraham told the rich man in Hades that if they didn’t listen to Moses, even if someone were raised from the dead that his brothers wouldn’t believe anyway.

Don’t you understand that a graven image refers to something - an object - that is worshiped [idolatry] as a substitute for the Living and True God? I think you are taking that verse completely out of context esp. in regards to verse 5. Were you implying having/investigating the shroud is something others are worshiping or serving? - makes no sense to me...

Not depicting God in any manner then yes I agree wholeheartedly. But where does Exodus mention Jesus and wasn’t Jesus our earthly physical interface directly tying us back spiritually to God?

“Agreed. I believe the image was created at the exact moment of His resurrection.”

There are some old threads (and elsewhere) of some genius woman in physics that analyzed and pondered the image. She thinks it was created during a “big bang” event, where weird time and space stuff happened. A “singularity” is what she called it IIRC. (For one thing, the proportions of the image are the same on the front on the back - no “smooshing” down on the back side. So the body was suspended in air at the instant the image was transferred.)

I don't recall if she mentioned it or not - but I thought of it as a “new Creation”.

I have no doubt that the shroud of Turin is Jesus’ shroud, and he looked very much like the rendition from the shroud.

That’s enough for me.

Protestants come up with the goofiest depictions.

I find that ironic considering how Jesus is depicted in much Catholics art.

For me there’s nothing more frustrating than trying to convince the hard-headed but then I realized [thanks to Max Lucado] I can still be a ‘johnny appleseed’ - state my case [drop the seeds for planting] but I may have to wait for Heaven to see if it made a difference.

Maybe they don’t accept / maybe they do,

but most only go forward about there business rather than tracking down someone from their past...

Oh sure metmom, but if all we needed was a piece of cloth with an image on it, then we wouldn't have something called faith...a gift from God.

I believe there is a Jewish scientist who was one of the prominent scientists that took part in the testing and, although he concludes that the image is authentic, I do not believe he has yet converted.

It reminds me of the saying "For those who believe no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe no proof is possible."

I’m not sure why there is talk about worshiping graven images, etc. Maybe I missed something.

It might be important to note here too that the Catholic Church does not require any Catholic to believe that this is Christ’s image. In fact, I don’t think the Church has even stated with certainty that it is.

God is really impressing on me that I am only responsible to obey and act, not for the outcome.

I don’t remember saying much, if anything, about the Shroud. I think the Shroud is fascinating. I don’t think it, or any other physical object, should be treated as holy or reverenced in any way, but it’s history is certainly captivating.

As for the rest of what you said, read my posts I’m quite sure I’ve dealt with depictions of Christ. Perhaps the key is understanding both the letter and the spirit of the law. Read carefully and prayerfully the portion I quoted from Spurgeon’s sermon about our jealous God.
