Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Children In The Bible (And Parenting)

Cain and Abel(Genesis 4)

4 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten[a] a man with the help of the Lord.” 2 And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground. 3 In the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground, 4 and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, 5 but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. 6 The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted?[b] And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for[c] you, but you must rule over it.”

8 Cain spoke to Abel his brother.[d] And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him. 9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?” 10 And the Lord said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground. 11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it shall no longer yield to you its strength. You shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.” 13 Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.[e] 14 Behold, you have driven me today away from the ground, and from your face I shall be hidden. I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.” 15 Then the Lord said to him, “Not so! If anyone kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the Lord put a mark on Cain, lest any who found him should attack him. 16 Then Cain went away from the presence of the Lord and settled in the land of Nod,[f] east of Eden.

17 Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. When he built a city, he called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch. 18 To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad fathered Mehujael, and Mehujael fathered Methushael, and Methushael fathered Lamech. 19 And Lamech took two wives. The name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. 20 Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock. 21 His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe. 22 Zillah also bore Tubal-cain; he was the forger of all instruments of bronze and iron. The sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.

23 Lamech said to his wives:

Adah and Zillah, hear my voice;
you wives of Lamech, listen to what I say:
I have killed a man for wounding me,
a young man for striking me.
24 If Cain's revenge is sevenfold,
    then Lamech's is seventy-sevenfold.”

25 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth, for she said, “God has appointed[g] for me another offspring instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.” 26 To Seth also a son was born, and he called his name Enosh. At that time people began to call upon the name of the Lord.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
We Come into Your Presence With Praise and Thanksgiving.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Most High,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
Praise You, Lord!
How good it is to sing praises to You;
For You Are Gracious,
And a song of praise is fitting.

Dear LORD,
We see so clearly in this passage,
That Heartbreak, Disfunction,
and Wayward Children have existed since the Beginning.
Cain's jealousy of his younger brother,
and his passing down his murderous ways to the next generation,
Are made plain to us in this very early chapter of Genesis.
We also see the Pain and Bereavement of Eve,

And her Joy at Bringing New Life Into the World.
It seems that "Broken Families" are nothing new..

Father,
We pray For Families In America during These troubled Times,
And We pray especially for Children, that they will come to know and serve You
And help bring about the repentance and Redemption of America.

We Ask that this will open the eyes
of people in our own Nation.

We ask for forgiveness for ourselves,
Dear Father, as we Pray for Our Nation.
We ask You to reverse the trends of evil and selfishness
that have taken hold in our own Land.
We beg that You will restore Faith in You,
The One True God,
and that Our own Nation will Once Again be Known
as one who keeps Her Promises to Her Friends and Allies,
and NOT as A Covenant-Breaker.

We Plead With You,
That Our Leaders will be Led by Your Holy Spirit
with regards to Our Own Country's Policies Towards Jerusalem,
Or That You Will Remove Them.
We Plead That Your Will be Done,
On Earth, As It Is In Heaven

We Plead For Israeli Control Over All the Holy Sites in Israel,
So that People of All Faiths may visit them.
We Pray For Bibi Netanyahu,
and the Leaders of Israel
May They Receive Wisdom from You to do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Before I left on my Journey, I decided to do a new series on this thread, a topical study on Children, Parenting, and Family. It is a rich topic and will give us lots of insight into the most ancient of institutions, the Family.

Some of you may already know that, on the second day of my "vacation", my best friend Lillian had a massive coronary and died in my arms. I tried to administer CPR, but we were both strapped into an open helicopter, and I was unable to get on top of her to do what was necessary. I have spent the last two weeks "taking care of business" and it has been very hard for me. I know Lillian is in heaven, but I am still here, so would you pray for me, please? I am having a rough time being "brave".

Come and Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

There are worse things than dying in the arms of someone you love and who loves you.

I’ll be praying for you for God to give you strength and heal your heart.

Thanks for undertaking this thread again in spite of the turmoil in your life.

Psalm 90:1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.

Dear ML, how glad we are to see your posts and know you are joined here with us today and always. Please assure yourself that as we pray for the Peace of Jerusalem we are united in Prayer for each other, because we are ONE in CHRIST..AMEN. Thank you for choosing the Family as our topic of worship, study and prayer. Let us pray for a new generation to be lovers of GOD, servants of CHRIST, and workers in the gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT...may the LORD be glorified in this.

We pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, we pray for the souls of all Israel, that they would find their Resting Place in Messiah Yeshua...we pray for our nation, that we would lift our eyes and give GOD the GLORY of THANKSGIVING and PRAISE for being our SALVATION and FREEDOM, we pray for the persecuted who are of the chosen even in this time, for the LORD had confirmed it to be so...may our prayers encourage their faith. We pray for the church, may we repent from all the follies. Shalom Dear Sister...Love Jean
