We still need to have the truth on what’s happening around us. The struggle is: what’s relevant. But if you realize you’re being played, even by FoxNews and even by so-called conservatives, you’re getting there. You’re seeing the “news” not as truth but as what-society-sees.

But keep looking for truth. The struggle nowadays is to keep one’s attention longer than the next hyperlink.

At least with the Internet, you can choose what to read; if you pick up a newspaper, you’re stuck.

I remember going cold turkey on news, that was until 9/11. Then I became engrossed, to HELP MY COUNTRY. I am at the point where I realize it doesn’t matter what I do, they will do what they do. This past election showed me that more than ever. I am reaching the tuning out thing again. Not because I don’t care, but because it doesn’t seem to matter.

Me too. I even ran my own blog... Nobody cared but me, nothing changed and it just gets worse every day. I don't think people have yet realized the revolution is over...they are sleepily waking to a changed world and seem confused by what they see. Sort of denial before anger?

Last November I cancelled my subscription to our local paper. I put a block on all news networks on my cable so I can’t access them even by accident (and that includes Fox). I get all the news I need from Free Republic. So far, I find it refreshing not to have to watch giggling talking heads and inane commentary on subjects that are just not that important.

Yellow journalism, or the yellow press, is a type of journalism that presents little or no legitimate well-researched news and instead uses eye-catching headlines to sell more newspapers.[1] Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, or sensationalism.[1] By extension, the term yellow journalism is used today as a pejorative to decry any journalism that treats news in an unprofessional or unethical fashion.[2]

Sometimes I just keep Fox News on MUTE, and occasionally unmute it when something newsworthy comes on.

Free Republic is a good news source, as long as you pick and choose what is important.

By the way, this website is important. We need more monthly contributors, say, $5 a month. It will really help keep the lights on!

I have done the same. No cable TV, and news stations on the radio is garbage wrapped in pushing an agenda. So I go to sites like This because they collect news stories from around the world. I also go to DU because they also post stories you do not see here. You are doing yourself a disservice by NOT seeking out information from both sides.

"so much of Media is poisonous."

The U.S. fifth-column media are more than that; they are traitors.
