Pray for our American Heroes and Nation

KEYWORDS: military; pray; prayer
Father God, You are the Majestic Glory. As we touch, taste and see the earth and Your creation, we are in awe and wonder how others fail to glorify You! Then we are brought to our knees knowing that Jesus’ sacrifice alone allows us to boldly come before Your throne of Glory to fellowship and pray to You in a time of need.

Your Word tells us that Jesus is upholding all things by the Word of His Power. His throne is forever and ever. In this topsy turvy society in which we live, how wonderful for us to know that His Kingdom cannot be shaken. Selah and Amen.

We pray that Your Kingdom would come into the lives of our military men and women and into the office of our President, our legislators and our judges. Give them Your wisdom as they perform their duties and teach them the fear of You. We trust Your mighty Holy Spirit to do these things.

Grant protection to each member of our military in harm’s way, whether abroad or within our borders. We agree with Your Word which says that He was wounded for their transgressions, He was bruised for their iniquities; The chastisement for their peace was upon Him, And by His stripes they were healed.

Thank You, Sir, for this time of fellowship and petition and for surely hearing and answering when we cry. We pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, as You instructed us. Amen.

Heavenly Father,

We come to you to humbly pray that You shower our American heroes with Your love and kind mercy. Grant us the wisdom to recognize and appreciate the sacrifices these brave men and women make for us each and every day. We also ask for Your forgiveness when we neglect to honor You and Your most precious and heroic servants. We promise to reflect on our shortcomings and turn our hearts over to You for cleansing.

We pray in Jesus’ sacred name. Amen

Amen, Hiskid.

May God over-rule our leaders who are set against You. May the hearts of the people turn to You. May we wake up from stupor. May Your Spirit grant us discernment and repentance. In Jesus Name.

What We Talk About

July 17, 2013

Perhaps you are familiar with the saying, “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” Admittedly, there are ways to speak of people that can honor them. But this saying highlights our darker experiences. In a world of ever-present media—social and professional—we are continually confronted with people’s lives at a level of intimacy that can be inappropriate.

Worse, this tidal wave of personal information about others could become grist for our conversational mills to the point that gossip becomes the norm—and not just about the rich and famous. People in our workplaces, churches, neighborhoods, and families can also be targets of sharp tongues and feel the pain of discussions that never should have happened.

How can we escape our inclination to use words to hurt others? By recognizing that the ultimate Hearer of our words is God, who longs for us to be better than that. With the psalmist, we can pray, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord” (Ps. 19:14). When we seek to please God with our conversations about others, we honor Him. With His help, we can glorify Him through what we talk about.

Forgive me, Father, for the times my speech
crosses the line of that which is appropriate.
Help me to understand the power of words,
and give me the wisdom to use them well.
It is better to bite your tongue than to make a biting remark.

Read: Psalm 19

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord. —Psalm 19:14

Hebrews 1:3 The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. . . And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

Hebrews 12:26-28 When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.” 27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain. 28 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.

ETERNAL GOD, how mighty is thy Hand that created, that sustains, that holds, that reaches down, wipes away tears, and opens up to gives Mercy and Grace, good gifts, and SALVATION…is thy Hand too short to save or thy hear to heavy that thy can’t hear. Praise YOUR NAME…the answer is a resounding NO…Amen. Dear LORD, it is with Thankful hearts and humble holy fear and awe that we dare come and yet boldly come asking for our outstretched arm and powerful hand to shield our men and women, our sons and daughters. OH LORD, SOVEREIGN GOD…please, shake only from them the things that hinder their faith, their growth and their hope…and leave remaining over them, THY GREAT LOVE and MERCY, wrapped in UNENDING GRACE…till THY KINGDOM COME…we pray…Amen.
