Isn't the National Catholic Reporter
the Liberal Catholic Newspaper?
I believe the one that is now part of EWTN and abides by Catholic Church teaching is the National Catholic Register.
I get these two CATHOLIC newspapers confused.

(Traditional values -- especially family values -- which have been proven over time.)
You are correct. The National Catholic Reporter (a/k/a the Fishwrap) was actually ordered by its bishop many years ago to stop representing itself as a Catholic paper - it ignored him and continues to do so.
The Reporter are generally the bad guys and the Register are generally the good guys, but there are exceptions. One of the Register's writers committed a completely brain-dead (and fact-free) editorial on the Zimmerman case . . . and John Allen is the only writer at the Reporter who has any sense. The general feeling is that he's still there because they pay him extremely well and he can't support his family anywhere else. I think the Register should lure him away with a princely salary, post-haste.

(Ecce Crucem Domini, fugite partes adversae. Vicit Leo de Tribu Iuda, Radix David, Alleluia!)
I smell some liberal Satanic word twisting... many non Catholics, and previously disaffected Catholics favor this pope BECAUSE of the moral stands he takes. I remember he recently gave a speech saying it was all about “JESUS,JESUS,JESUS”!(he repeated the name 3 times) It was speech exhorting Catholics to remember what their faith was all about(I wish now I had book marked the article). What was not for Christians-—protestants and catholics alike to love about such a pastor!?

Chaput likes John Allen and he's probably the only person at the fishwrap who would be granted an interview. Also, the editor at the National Catholic Register is Jeanette DeMelo
who was the communications director for the Archdiocese in Denver when Chaput was the Archbishop. As a board member at EWTN he was instrumental in her getting the job since EWTN owns the National Catholic Register.
