World leaders should unite to end anti-Christian persecution, Vladimir Putin says

Vladimir Putin has urged the world’s political leaders to stop the violent persecutions against Christians that have erupted in many Middle Eastern countries.

Speaking at a meeting with Orthodox Christian leaders in Moscow last week, the Russian President said he noted “with alarm” that “in many of the world’s regions, especially in the Middle East and in North Africa inter-confessional tensions are mounting, and the rights of religious minorities are infringed, including Christians and Orthodox Christians.”

“This pressing problem should be a subject of close attention for the entire international community,” Putin said. “It is especially important today to make efforts to prevent intercultural and interreligious conflicts, which are fraught with the most serious upheavals.”

Putin praised the growth of cooperation between the Orthodox Churches and the Russian state, saying, “We act as genuine partners and colleagues to solve the most pressing domestic and international tasks, to implement joint initiatives for the benefit of our country and people.”

The Russian Federation recently passed legislation making it illegal to promote homosexuality as normal, a move that, while condemned by many European leaders, was strongly supported by the Orthodox Church.

There was some worry that Iran would indeed target Russia out of Russia itself, when Iran tested long-range missiles back in 2009. It was out of Sergei Lavrov, who is still Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On top of that, given the more recent problems that Russia has had with Dagestani and Chechnyan Islamists, their helping Iran in any way contributes to many other continued dangers to Russia.

I agree fully with your latter two paragraphs.

>>>Are you claiming that Osama Bin Laden is an American agent? What evidence do you have that Osama was specifically trained by the CIA or in any way affiliated with the CIA or any government agency?<<<

Well, at least he was supplied by CIA. As for being an agent or not I have no evidence. To be fair, I haven’t seen a KGB member card of #2 as well.

“Well, at least he was supplied by CIA.”

“The story about bin Laden and the CIA — that the CIA funded bin Laden or trained bin Laden — is simply a folk myth. There’s no evidence of this. In fact, there are very few things that bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri and the U.S. government agree on. They all agree that they didn’t have a relationship in the 1980s. And they wouldn’t have needed to. Bin Laden had his own money, he was anti-American and he was operating secretly and independently. The real story here is the CIA did not understand who Osama was until 1996, when they set up a unit to really start tracking him.”

That’s generally where I classify Iran/Russian apologetics. Folk myth.

As for no KGB ID Card, we certainly don’t need ID cards for Hizbollah aided and abetted by Iran, who in turn are supported by the Russians. Are you pro-Hizbollah? What about Hamas?

I’m certainly not a Hizbollah supporter but I like to see them being a pain for Al-Qaeda. A job present US administration won’t do.

... You’re seriously arguing for Hizbollah, the same guys who like to kill Jewish children and hate the United States, to be seen as a potential ally against... Al-Qaeda?

So where in Moscow do you live and how much does comrade Putin pay you for these silly posts?

I agree. I did a quick search Obama criticizes Christian persecution. NOTHING.

I think we should hang our heads in shame.

I think someone else’s head should be in the same sentence as “hanging”...

I live nowhere near Moscow and aren’t paid for any posts.

I’m not advocating Hizbollah as well, being fully aware of all kinds of their activity.

I just hate to see everyone being nuts about Hizbollah which is pretty much contained by Israel’s forces in it’s negative activity but at the same time praising or ignoring Al-Qaeda’s “Arab Spring” which is a thing of absolute different magnitude.

Mind my words in a few years. Just let a Syrian, Egyptian regime fall, wait for Jordan, destroy Iran and you’ll see that.
There will be a Sunni Caliphate of Middle East and North Africa. It will have an economic power of UK, enough expertise to build a sufficient number of nukes and delivery systems to effectively target United States and Europe. And it will be run by OBL types who actually can do it, not just menacing like Iran’s mullahs does.

"In the East there is someone that causes the western liberal's maniacal laughter to stop. Vladimir Putin. He has real world power, which causes the liberal media to fearfully ignore or warp his image. Like a good Christian King he leads a nation to Christ. Deep down in their evil souls they shriek like devils because they know Christ is true God and true power that they cannot defeat. They thought the Bolshevik revolution destroyed Holy Mother Russia. Christ cannot be defeated and his servant Putin has welcomed Christ and His church."

How's this for a fish story: In the latest episode of Vladimir Putin's ongoing rugged outdoorsman fantasy adventure series, the Russian president, clad in a camouflage jacket and hat, appears to catch a massive pike...Russia's defense minister, who was on the trip, says the fish weighed between 26.4 and 33 pounds, but a Putin spokesman pegs the weight at 46.3 pounds. Russian bloggers are for some reason a tad skeptical. Several have posted images of bigger fish they've caught themselves that have weighed far less. "They must have forgotten to unfreeze the pike," one social network post quipped. Another wrote, "The Kremlin must have weighed the pike the way they count the votes." Come on guys. It's not like Putin would fake a spectacular exploit.

Plus I think the Russians don’t supply them with their best stuff, and their intel has access to secrets about the regime that the CIA couldn’t get.

One of those “Keep your friends close, your enemies even closer” kind of things.

Hard to believe the day would ever come when the leader of Russia cares more about Christians' freedom than the President of the United States does.

Heck, Putin sounds more concerned about Christian's freedom than the pope!

Iran’s already at war with “us”, if by “us” you mean the USA. Not fighting the war for nine years does not translate to ending said war. Those who help Iran, therefore, must have allied with Iran against the USA.
