Imagine you and your spouse find out you're expecting. Having experienced this moment a few times, I know there's nothing quite like it. Your world changes, and within days, your child's entire biography unfolds in your mind: her first steps, first words, kindergarten, little league, ballet, high school, college, and eventually a young adult who will make you insanely proud. It's all so promising.

“As embryologist and in-vitro pioneer Robert Edwards predicted chillingly in the late nineties, “Soon it will be a sin for parents to have a child that carries the heavy burden of a genetic disease. We are entering a world,” he said, “where we have to consider the quality of our children.”

Just like Death Panels, this will be a requirement of government run healthcare

One of the comments asked what should be done if we find a way to prenatally detect the "genetic sin" of homosexuality.

There's no such thing as a "genetic sin." There are just ordinary, flawed, heartfelt- precious human beings. You were not created for disorder, dishonor, and disposal. You were created for joy.

My sister went in for her pregnancy check and the doctor wanted to perform some test to check for abnormalities.

My sister asked, "Is this a search and destroy mission?

And he said, "No, it is a search and prepare mission."

"Don't you means a search and prepare in order to destroy mission?"

The doc got upset with her, so she changed doctors when she was seven months along.

The deck is stacked against the baby. The doctor wants to perform the test so that he doesn't get sued.

The parents are given a diagnosis and essentially forced to decide the fate of their baby.

The humanity of the baby gets lost in the shuffle.

I’d not be here if my mom performed the test. People like to bleat about equality. Rarely do they practice it.
