The burden of Egypt. Behold, the Lord rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it. And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts.(Isaiah 19:1-4)
Three recent headlines are instructive to those of us wondering what is going on in Egypt and which side in this horrifying revolution deserves western backing.
The first headline is a nightmare one, Islamist Mob Parades Nuns Through Cairo as Prisoners of War, which is an account of the actions of the Muslim Brotherhood, one of the contestants in the struggle for the soul of the worlds largest and most influential Arab nation.
The Muslim Brotherhood is a back-to-Islam group founded in 1928 in Egypt by Hassan Al Banna, as a response to the collapse of the Sunni Caliphate after World War 1, and the humiliation of the colonization of much of the Sunni world by the Allied powers, Britain and France. It is primarily Egyptian, but has spread throughout the Arab world, and has long served as an opposition to the colonialism by the west and to the secular Arab governments that have ruled the Arab Muslim world.
The Muslim brotherhood has steadily worked to foment violent Jihad throughout the world, by writings, acts of terrorism, assassinations ( for example Anwar Sadat of Egypt) and political infiltration and activism. It is believed by credible people that the MB has infested the State Department of the US and has greatly influenced the policies of the Obama administration.
Though long suppressed and even outlawed by the Egyptian government, the MB was given a seat at Obamas Cairo speech to the Muslim world, upon the insistence and even pressure of the US Government. As a result of Obamas speech and foreign policy pressure, Hosni Mubarak was deposed in the 2011 Arab Spring revolution and the MB was legalized.
In the elections that followed, Mohammed Morsi, an MB candidate came to power in Egypt and immediately began subverting the constitution, and filling powerful positions with MB candidates.
The Organizations motto- Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Quran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.
Al Queda, comes out of the MB, as well as Hamas, and Fatah. So also does CAIR,(The Council on American and Islamic Relations). Osama Bin Ladens right hand man and successor, Ayman Zawahiri is a product of the MB, so also several of the 9-11 hijackers.
The Muslim Brotherhood is backed by the Obama administration, and as received virtually no criticism for this past the events of this past weekend, the burning of 50 Christian churches, the killing of Christians, and the kidnapping and public outraging of Egyptian Nuns.
The only force currently holding back these savage Barbarians, is the Egyptian Army. The Army has been killing and arresting an amazing array of terrorists as they defend what is left of Egypt from the violently protesting Muslim Brotherhood.
Since the 1950′s military coup against the corrupt King Farouk of Egypt, the army has been the real stabilizing force in Egypt. Presidents Gamel Nasser, Anwar Sadat, and Hosni Mubarak were all installed as a result of the coup, and have been kept in place by the army. The Egyptian Army suffered devastating defeats in four major wars with Israel, until the 1983 peace treaty signed by Begin of Israel and Sadat of Egypt*.
Since that time the Egyptian Army has kept radical Islam at bay and allowed the secular leaders to rule as a relatively moderate Muslim nation. Mubaraks Egypt has co-operated with the US and the west in the so-called War on Terror, providing intelligence, and interrogation services, and our billions in Aid has given our ships first in line status at the Suez canal, and more than thirty years of peace with Israel.
In view of that the second headline is puzzling, Obama Demands Egypt Release Jailed Members of Muslim Brotherhood. Why would the leader of the land of the free and the home of the brave demand that terrorists be released to rue a nation that is spurning them?
Among those caught in the middle of this struggle, are the indigenous Egyptian Christians, the Copts,
The Word Copt means Egyptian, for the Copts are the original Egyptians, who never succumbed to Islam through the long centuries of entombment by Islamic invaders in the 7th century. For centuries the Copts have suffered under Dhimmi Status, (second class citizenships for non-Muslims, enshrined in Sharia Law). They hold to an Ancient Catholic form of Christianity.
The Copts have clung to their faith through the centuries, in spite of enduring much indignity, various violent pograms, the kidnapping and conversion of their daughters, to be forcibly married off to Muslims, and sent away.
However with the dawning of the Arab spring revolution, the Copts also hoped for something better, even demonstrating with middle class Egyptians for more freedom from oppression in the new Egypt. But under Morsi, it was not to be so, for persecution, and Sharia oppression increased immediately after he took power.
Which brings us to our third headline, Coptic Pope Blasts Muslim Brotherhood,US and EU
America was once known as a beacon of hope for the oppressed, her citizen soldiers have always considered themselves liberators, as on D-Day in 1944. But to borrow a phrase from the Bible, about the shift in political and moral direction in Egypt 3000 years ago, there has arisen a (King) president, who knows not (Joseph) the Judeo Christian American ethos.
Pray for Egypt, and for America!
* For signing a peace with Israel, Anwar Sadat was assasinated by the Muslim Brotherhood.
I don’t know. Which side is the U.S. on?
Speaking of the muslime brotherhood, I wonder if my US Congressman, Keith Ellison is a member of the MB.
If so, could he be an enemy of the State?
The US as a country would be, but its’ leader is not.
If obama is for it, it is the wrong side. He is a radical moselm intent on destroying all that is good in the world.
So while Americans are on the right side (Pro-Israel, Pro-free Egypt) America is on the wrong side.
In the Mid East there usually ISN’T a right side. It’s usually 2 (or more) flavors of scumbag arguing with each other. Which is a big part of why intervening goes so badly all the time.
Obama has been on the wrong side of everything.
Honduras had a Hugo Chavez clone trying to be dictator. The Parliament and Supreme Court threw him out of office for violating constitution. O said, “put him back. This is a coup” (O pronounced it coupe)
O lit the fuse of the Arab Spring. He has forced abortion and gayness on Africa (where neither are welcome).
He has PO’d the Chinese and Russians (and everyone else).
In short, he has been anathema to the “Nobel Peace Prize” ever since those Nordic fools handed it to him in anticipation of how great he ‘would’ be.
There is no right side in Egypt.
We should try being on our own side for once.
Not the US ,it’s Obama ,what ever side Obama is on it’s always the wrong side .Obama has a problem telling Right from Wrong
The US isn’t on the right side of anything.
Good Lord, cripplecreek! I’m agreeing with you twice in one week. The end is surely near.
They wanted to fashion a so-called "Arab Spring," using these extremists to try and fashion a middle east to their liking, one which would spread to the other nations in the area like Lybia, Syria, Jordan, Lebannon, etc.
But the Egyptian people figured it out and have not only kicked the fraudulent, tryranical Musim Brotherhood out, they are now actively prosecuting them because of their crimes while in power.
Now, Obama and his administration have two main reasons to continue to try and turn back the will of the Egyptian people and their military:
1) First and foremost, the Muslim Brotherhood and perhaps others there in Egypt ahve the goods on Obama and his treacherous, treasonous efforts, particularly through involvement in Benghazi, and I am sure Muslim Brotherhood insiders are trying to blackmail Obama in an effort to get him to save their own skins from the Egyptian people and military.
2) This entire travesty in Egypt is proof positive of Obama's real motives, and where his foregn policy is centered. As long as the Egyptian military and people prevail and the Muslim Brotherhood is exposed, his motives and failures on out in the open for the whole world to see.
There is no right side.
We don’t belong there at all. We should not arm either side. We should not be giving them any aid.
If Hell and Klingons went to war, why would we have to choose a damned side?
I agree with many of you who say there is no right side in most of these Muslim imbroglios, but If we helped the Egyptian Army absolutely exterminite the MB, I would think that a good thing.
If the members of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood are serious about the part of their motto that says, ‘’Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope,’’ there’ll be no end to Egypt’s civil war until one side wins.
Why should we expect the situation in Egypt to be any different from that in Syria, where members of the Muslim Brotherhood’s offshoot, al-Qaeda, have be dying in the way of Allah for three years in an effort to depose Syria’s secular president?
Yet the western media has been covering the Muslim Brotherhood protests in Egypt as if they’re like the Occupy Wall Street protests in the U.S. or a normal protest-of-the-week in Paris, where people come out for a short while waving flags and acting obnoxious until the weather gets bad and then go back to their warm homes.
Maybe the Muslim Brotherhood members in Egypt, unlike their al-Qaeda brothers in Syria, DON’T take their fanatical religious motto seriously and are just a bunch of phonies who are about to be exposed as such when they give up the fight and wander off leaving the Egyptian military completely in charge of their country.
It's easy to tell that Roddeberry based the Klingon characters after the crazy Muslims.
