I totally agree with the answer. The Bishop has the duty and rights in these matters.

Find another parish and stop the Sunday donation.
That’s the only recourse.

Contact Nikon. They may have some staff lawyers they’d be willing to loan you.

Without cause? That’s the Bishop’s business. He doesn’t need to share the reason with parishoners.

Ditto! I also agree.
Besides, the bishops in most dioceses rotate and/or change priests from one assignment to another on a scheduled basis.

The RC church is not a democracy. Parish politics are irrelevant to the authority of the Bishop. Lump it.

Specifically, we want to sue the bishop of the diocese for abuse of power, after he unjustly removed our parish priest without cause
. How do we go about filing a canon lawsuit? Suck it up. You have no rights over the bishop, and the interpretation and enforcement of canon law is entirely his purview.

Although it may very well be true that there was an abuse of power, etc, how would anyone really know that there was absolutely no good reason for removing the priest?

.....Unless the priest is close to retiring and there is a tendency for bishops to allow them to retire to that particular parish.
