Some background:

The TV series Blue Bloods , stars Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan, Police Commissioner of New York City.

The second season episode, “ The Job ” (2012) reveals Frank was a first responder to the Twin Towers when they were hit on 9/11.
One of his fellow first responders, Chief John McKenna, recently passed away from an illness contracted at Ground Zero.
And Frank, asked to speak at John’s memorial service, feels survival guilt.

Frank’s father offers wise counsel, drawing strength from their Christian faith, and Frank gives a moving tribute to this hero of 9/11.

Heavenly Father –

As another anniversary passes of 9/11, may we never forget … most of all never forget our God of all comfort, in whom we take refuge during the storms of life . We confess that do not understand why evil seems to triumph, but trust that You have a glorious plan for all of Your children, which will all work together for good.

Protect all first responders, who sacrifice and put themselves willingly in harm’s way to serve others and save lives. Shield our heroes who put on the uniform to hold back the forces of evil, home and abroad. Grant wisdom to our leaders and turn their hearts to seek help from the Good Lord in Heaven.

May Your people stand in the gap in prayer to pull down the strongholds of the evil one. May America turn back to the faith of our fathers and mothers who put their trust in You. May we rest in the promise that someday You will wipe away all tears and vanquish evil from Your universe– forever.
