Moscow, September 6, Interfax - The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed concern over the attempts made by the armed opposition in Syria to take over the city of Maalula, a symbol of the Christian presence in Syria.
"Moscow is deeply concerned over the fact that terrorist attacks in Syria have affected Maalula, a symbol of the Christian presence in this country. Its residents speak the Aramaic language, which is almost extinct and is the language in which Jesus Christ preached, and the churches located in this city are among the oldest and most honored churches of Christians," the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press department said in a commentary released on Friday.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called "on everyone who cares about the fate of the people of Maalula to do everything possible to prevent their killing and the destruction of Christian holy places."
"Terrorist attacks need to be stopped immediately. Special responsibility for them rests with those forces in the region and outside of it that encourage terrorists, intentionally or not," the document says. Print this page

I agree. It's just downright tragic that we are the ones backing the people who are attacking the Christians. Unfreakinbelievable!
On a side note: I was a teenager in the 80's. I remember all the cold war stuff- The news media ran non-stop editorials that Reagan was going to get us all killed. Or there were articles about how we were going to nuke Russia, or they were going to nuke us- these stories ran every day. There was even a movie where it showed what a hellish life we would be leading post nuclear Apocalypse. As a result of all this, many people who grew up then, including myself, at times, did not think that we would live to make it to adulthood.
(Then again we also had quite a few EOTWAWKI parties-so we didn't always take it so seriously either.)
But, if I was feeling bothered about something I'd seen, or heard, about Russia and the conflict, I'd talk to my mother. ( Not that she was an authority on world affairs -She really could have cared less), but, when I mentioned anything, she would always tell me, with 100% certainty in her voice : "Stop worrying-Russia will be converted. The Blessed Mother said so."
I wouldn't say my mom is overly religious either. She was raised Catholic, and went to Catholic school back in the 1950's-But she must've told me that a million times: "Russia will be converted".
It is Ironic in light of what's happening there today.

What Russia is doing is the fruit of so many years of prayers for the conversion of Russia. Now it is standing up for persicuted Christians.
I think you are right. Putin is exploiting the weakness Barryo has with the folks back home (he isn't one of us, and by that I mean, he isn't American, his childhood wasn't typical Christian rooted American Christmas, Easter, THanksgiving, and the Fourth of July, heck he can't even legitimately claim the racist grievance over slavery because his daddy's family wasn't here.)
Barry's Muslim roots have him squirming, here, and Putin is enjoying being able to prod him.

Carter's legacy is set in stone. He started the whole middle east ball rolling when he ousted the Shah.
Then after RR set things straight, we had a few good years - then along comes Bubba - and the evil ones saw that his main concern was having fun and glorifying in his position. They saw the 'weak link' and exploited it. and they were right. He was too busy playing golf and games in the Oval Office to nip them in the bud - especially when t cam to Binny Boy...and the rest is history - leaving them a clear avenue - with the help of the brain dead Sheeple - to get their man and minions in the WH.
