Have head that tomorrow, September 8, parish priests, on order from their dioceses, will give homilies that unabashadly advocate amnesty for illegal aliens, that is, support the Obama administration's policy in this area. Last week's homily was, in my church, a taste of this; the priest worked (snuck?) the subject of immigration and immigrants into the homily. Since I've returned to the faith from a somewhat lapsed status over 4 years ago, I've endeavored not to miss any days of obligation. But I remember way back in 1982 when a priest gave an over-the-top homily supporting the nuclear "freeze" movement. I do not want to ever sit through something like that again. If I do, I will simply get up and walk out of church.
Its up to you of course, but Catholic homilies at mass usually aren’t very long and your presence there is for the purpose of prayer, so you can light a candle for the priest and say a prayer instead of listening intently to the message and letting your blood pressure go ballistic.
Of course you can always go to a foreign language mass near your residence, and let the whole message go over your head.
Not sure what Diocese you’re in, but you could always go to a Mass where the Mass/homily is in a language you don’t understand..
I’ve done that before by going to the Spanish Mass, but I will admit not liking the hymns, despite having no idea, except for Senor, what they are saying.
I left a parish back in the mid 70’s when a priest said he didn’t want to hear any change hitting the collection basket.

It is one thing for a priest to provide biblical reference to current events, and quite another to take a political stand.
Priest are human beings and they are not infallible.

they do this here almost every week in my lib parish. Heck, they prayed for the “end of the Iraq war” 3 years after it officially ended but i won’t hold my breath about Syria.

I am getting ready for 5:30 mass now. IF this is topic of tonites sermon, I will not
put my envelope in collection basket. I will always go to mass. BUT, I will ignore sermon ( not not try to hide that i am not listening) and i will not contribute as i always do any longer until im sure noe of my money is supporting illegal activites.
I wish I had a nickel for every time I hear the term “Social Justice” at my Church.
Why are you asking a faith question to strangers on a political site? Your choice shapes your answer. You should be praying about this matter and reading the Bible and the Catechism as you seek direction if you are serious.
Why attend a church that preaches Christ crucified and resurrected instead of a social (leftist) message?

Did your parish homily include a private prayer to Hillary? Does your parish hold a gay week mass?
I’ve long had varieties of this same question. I suppose you could get up and walk out, at least for part of it. I’ve done that. I don’t present myself as a canon law expert, and I expect to be corrected here if I’m wrong, but I think the obligation, at least for the liturgy of the word part of the mass, extends mostly to the readings.
Its unfortunate there are Christians embracing a false interpretation of scripture. There is nothing in scripture commanding secular govt to embrace amnesty.
