MEDFORD, Ore.-Some Medford Catholic parishioners may hear talk of Comprehensive Immigration Reform from the pulpit.
One Sacred Heart Parish Pastor said U.S. Bishops and the local Diocese have asked priests to tell congregations to consider their Catholic values when talking to legislators about the country's immigration laws.
"As a pastor I also see some of the challenges that people face particularly when families are split apart because of immigration [...] I know that our current system is broken and it needs to be fixed," said Father Kenneth Sampson.
Roman Catholic Bishops across the nation have called for immigration reforms that include a path to citizenship for immigrants living in the country illegally.
Boston Archdiocese Cardinal, Sean O'Malley, said reform should be, "rooted in the principle of family unification," and appealed for support from American Catholics.
In my parish (in New York no less) they not only prayed for comprehensive immigration reform but also for secure borders!!
The discoverers and settlers of this once great Nation had it right when they prohibited the Catholic religion from setting foot on our shores...

Family unification is wonderful! I’m all for it.
Unify them in Mexico... where they’re from.
So are these Priests advocating for a religion (”The Roman Catholic Church”) or a foreign government (”The Holy See”) ?
He has my support! I'm all for reunifying the families in their native homeland: Mexico.

Its all about the Benjamins....Latino immigrants are overwhelmingly very Roman Catholic. The Directors (aka bishops) of RNC Inc., the largest, oldest, most profitable multinational corporation in existence welcome the added revenue streams (gotta pay for those 500$/hour lawyer fees to defend pedophile priests).
I understand the history of hostility and hatred towards legal Irish and Italian immigrants who were Catholics.
The Know-Nothings of the 1850’s and the KKK of the 1920’s were big anti-Catholic movements.
But this isn’t about legal immigrants and for me it certainly isn’t about hating anyone.
Its about a secure border and obeying the law.
I asked my (conservative) parish Priest if he was going to be talking on this .... he only laughed.
Now THAT is a sure twist to appeasement for the two sides of Catholic opinion.
The socialist Catholics hyperbollically make all immigrants out to be Mary and Joseph, and bring nothing to the table for working Americans who are burdened by the invasion, or to the effects on sovereignty, common order in immigration law, common international law, security issues, or overall stress to the economy. Not a word.
BUT, I wouldn’t get too damned carried away in disparaging the Catholic Church by what one sees of the Church in the United States. The Church in the US, as executed by the USCCB, is often no model by which to judge the universal Catholic Church, on Earth, in Heaven, and praying in Purgatory.
Didn’t happen in my Church. The congregation is mostly of Italian ancestry. Only one Hispanic family to my knowledge, and they are not Mexican.
The Bishops are only preaching this where it is popular it seems.
As you would expect from the RCC. I guess their isn’t as much participation from the American crowd so they need to bring in more from the South. Young boys are hard to find in this day and age. The new a new supply line.

The question was asked on FR yesterday and received quite a lot of replies, all of them saying their priests did NOT mention allowing foreigners to cross the border. Instead they all gave the homily (sermon) based on the day’s Gospel as is usual. And that’s exactly what my priest did.
I’m tired of having to explain this, but the Catholic Church was promised by the psychiatrists that they could cure the behavior of any priest who was guilty of breaking his vows.
The Church sent their men off to be cured, and then sent them to other parishes hoping their previous reputation would be unknown.
THEN the psychiatrists said, “Ooops,” we were wrong.
Blame the psychiatrists and not the Church.
Try again and keep fooling yourself.
The priests committed a crime and the crime was covered up by the church. Sending the priests to rehad, therapy, or to the beach is meaningless. They did not report the crime and allowed it to continue with transfers to new unsuspecting parrishes. You can dilude yourself with the church is not guilty but no matter how you try and spin it it comes out the same

The terrible thing is, you're right. Our Bishops forgot about sin (and crime, for that matter) and were deluded by psychiatry. As a result, they allowed a great deal of damage to occur. There's simply no getting around this.
Fortunately, they seem to have tightened up in recent years. Most of the cases of homosexual priests date back to the 1960s and 1970s. There are very few recent ones. Too bad they learned their lesson too late.
