Atlanta’s Cathedral of Christ the King joined a nationwide Catholic campaign Sunday in calling for an overhaul of the nation’s immigration system and a pathway to citizenship for immigrants living illegally in the U.S.

Deacon Gerald Zukauckas delivered Sunday’s homily, urging parishioners to get involved in pushing for a floor vote on immigration legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives. Catholic churches across the nation were expected to deliver similar messages at Masses Sunday.

“Our moral tradition based upon our Catholic social justice calls on all people of faith and good will to stand up in defense of life and human dignity,” Zukauckas said, “just as we have for the sanctity of life from the moment of conception to natural death.”

Please forgive me for so casually and callously dragging you into aspects of dispute which you were not looking for.

Even the bishops which I took hasty potshots at --- are not all that far off from my own present, instinctual reactions, as in a "what to do now" where to go or proceed from here, given the all particulars regarding all the illegal immigration this nation has been all but laying out welcome mat for.

The bishops seem to be now leading from behind, pushing for the humanitarian aspect (which is important) while seeming to ignore the presently still far too porous nature of the this nation's borders. So I lashed out at them.

Though the vast influx of persons (chiefly from Mexico) has not been necessarily "all their fault" --- they have long been exerting political influence towards legitimizing what is in fact an invasion of peoples and culture, unseen on similar scope and scale, previously in this nation's history.

As to being a Christian;
Possibly you are doing fine enough. If you find the Lord there where you are, can find peace with Him and in Him and can continue, then all is well enough in that regard. Carry on, whatever works. And I do not mean that dismissively, but literally. Carry on. Abide until He returns. What choice do we have?
