One of the biggest failings of Muslims is that they will never condemn a Muslim even for the most egregious of offenses. They will be evasive as all get out to avoid doing so, but in the process deserve to be painted with the same tar brush.

To be respected they will have to not only condemn Muslims who have offended, but call them “bad Muslims”, and those whose offenses are inhuman should be rejected, that they are not Muslims at all, but liars who claim to be Muslims.

I say this as preface to the behavior of Christians.

When someone claims to be a Christian and commits horrific acts; or worse, tries to use Christianity to justify their horrific acts, for the credibility of their faith, Christians must step up to the plate first, to condemn their actions in the strongest of terms. That these acts in particular are not Christian acts, and to try and justify them as Christian is cursing Christianity.

That such people are not Christians, or even faithless. They are demons slandering Christianity with their behavior.

Let’s face it, people like this give all Christians a bad name. These people were totally clueless in my book.

I have never read the book and have no idea on what it recommends, but it should be obvious at least that your child needs to be fed and, if a book recommends starving them to discipline them, that the book should be thrown in the trash.

Apparently that, because multiple children have died by parents who followed the advice in this book, this is not a very good Christian parenting book to follow.

Any sort of parenting based in discipline and authority and breaking the child's will has no place in adoptive parenting. Unfortunately, many of the Biblically based parenting books do tend that way. And they may be fine for run of the mill kids and perhaps even kids who are adopted as infants, but for adopted kids who are already broken - attachment parenting is much more effective.

Here's an excerpt from the trial: Williams remembers when Hana started violently throwing herself down on the ground, hitting her head. "It was on the gravel, on the cement and on our lawn," said Williams, crying. "I couldn’t stand to watch her do that over and over again." "So you went inside and turned off the light?" asked Kaholokula. "I went inside, yes, but I still monitored her from the inside," answered Williams.

Hitting oneself/banging one's head is a classic sign of an attachment disorder. And this idiot treated it like a discipline problem. She watched her daughter bang her head onto the gravel and did nothing to stop it.

Here's an excerpt from the Pearls' website: When a child is told to do something that he doesn’t want to do, he will often ask, “Why?” In most cases the question is not prompted by a spirit of cooperative inquiry but by a spirit of independence and maybe even rebellion. The question is thrown at the parent as a challenge to his or her authority. A wise parent will know that the character of the child is better served if the question is left unanswered.

This is exactly the wrong approach for children with attachment issues who often go through a phase of obsessively asking questions.

Unfortunately, adoption is so often touted in Churches as a way to care for the widows and orphans. Adoption is a way to increase the size of your family and that is it. Any approach to parenting that focuses on breaking the child's will is bad, bad, bad for (older) adopted children.

Oh Dear Lord in Heaven, here is a recap of the adoptive mother's trial testimony: About Hana’s behavioral problems: She lied and stole. She didn’t steal just any food, Carri said. She stole junk food: sweets. She also wrote capital letters in the middle of words, and didn’t stand or sit exactly where she was told.

These are attachment issues with a capital A. Except for the capital letter thing and only someone who couldn't see her child's pain would care about misplaced capital letters.

No it does not make that recommendation.

Pardon me for being blunt but in my opinion the Pearls are a bunch of inbreed rednecks who had no business writing a book in the first place. Anyone who reads their trash and follows their advice gets the jail time they deserve.
I’m not against swatting a kid, and once in a while I’d take my own Grandmother’s advise on a really rotten kid which is to take him to the field and horsewhip him. The Pearls however take it too far every time, and it does not need to be taken to far ever single time. They just love to pick up a switch and beat a kid because they get some sick thrill out of it. Yes I said it too because I am convinced of it.

How does anyone deny a child food and warmth? Aren’t these the most basic of necessities? How cruel.
